go for it
I would give my local dealer the chance to match the price. If they won't, then I would go for the unit further away for that kind of savings. I think FLYBOB describes it pretty well. We bought our unit 380 miles from home to save over $6,000 compared to buying locally. We were concerned about warranty issues too with that kind of distance. The dealer we bought from was very clear and upfront with us that they would take care of any warranty issues that came up. They specifically requested that we contact them first with any issues and they would start the process by locating an authorized dealer close to us to deal with things. I am very mechanically inclined, on a couple of instances where I undertook the fixing myself that dealer mailed to me (overnighted each time) what I needed to correct things. When several more serious issues with our slides came up they found an authorized dealer close to us and made the initial arrangements for us to take it in. That dealer was awesome to deal with. No problems at all with us not buying from them. (I know this is not always the case, guess we are lucky?) They did the warranty work, handled everything with Forest River and did the work quickly this winter for us. I was honestly abit nervous about buying so far from home, but so far for us it has worked out great. We also bought the 2nd year warranty direct from Forest River for $150. Have already used it. For us the gamble paid off. Like I said, we saved over $6,000. Hope this helps you. Good luck.
