SiriusXM

Just got off the phone with siriusXM. I was stopping service on my 04 truck and adding it to the free 3 month that came with my new truck.
Not a problem- they credited my account with the $$ left on the old radio and activated my new one.

The reason I'm posting is they have a Christmas special of 12 months
for $72.
They call it $5 a month for $60 a year + fees and taxes but it's a lot
easier to just say it's $6 a month for a year.
Not a bad deal IMO.

This is for the economy package which does not include streaming to
other devices but I really don't care. We use Pandora at home and siriusXM on the road.

Merry Christmas to all my online friends!!
Peace!

They are always running specials. I used to have them when my commute was longer but decided it's not worth it since I'm barely in my car for 20 minutes a day anymore.

I'm constantly getting phone calls, letters and emails from them. $30 for 6 months is there standard offer. One time they offered 6 months at $25. Just like directtv, you just have to call and threaten to cancel before it renews at their higher price.

Yes you have to do the dance but I'm good for 15 months and they will email me a month before it renews "at regular price" which I will never pay.

My new truck 3 month free subscription includes their Traffic and destination service.
I've no idea if it's any good but I guess well see pretty soon when we head south.
We won't be re-upping that part of the subscription fer sure... IF I need traffic I'll use google on my phone.
I'm just wondering how Sirius compares to google traffic?

I have Direct TV and my contract needs to be renewed in May. Two years ago, I had DISH and they wouldn't do anything for me at renewal time except offer me a crazy high rate. Once I had DirectTV installed, DISH called back and had all kinds of low offers. How easy is it to get Direct TV to give you a low rate or should I just plan to move back to DISH for the next two years?

We're paying $65 a month for Spectrum internet.
They offer it to new customers for $45 a month for a year.
They won't give me that price even when I threatened to cancel.
So we're going to cancel for 30 days when we head south.
A real PITA but for $240 I'll do it.

If Google fiber ever gets to my house I will drop Spectrum so fast!!

If you have time to put up with both Sirius/XM and DirecTV's pricing shenanigans, spending some time on the phone threatening to cancel services will always get you better pricing.

This past April after being a continued DirecTV customer since 1995, I finally had a service rep acknowledge this is what they do and they would look forward to me calling back next year and haggling.

It's a shame you gotta do it but you can save hundreds.

I have yet for them to send me an e mail when my service is about up. They wait till it passes then notify you that it has expired and bill you for the days you used pass renewal date. These days are at the higher rate also. So we caught on to the game and now call them 2 weeks in advance of expiring. Then we do the dance and get 6 months for $32.00 including there extra for royalty fees. Also we have them send us a paper bill and we no longer give them a credit card.

That's another story in it self. Charge me fees on an expired card that wen't through but I got out of it. Later RJD

I just activated my XM account for 12 months for 68.34 total. I hope to start travelling soon and wanted it for the road. Waiting on dw's eye problem to improve before we hit the road. You have to play the dance constantly with Directv or Dish. I have been longtime customers with both. I'm currently on the Dish 3 year rate guarantee which is really only for the main package. They still nickel and dime you with every little charge they can. I now have 2 satellite dishes on my roof so when this deal runs out I'll probably switch back to DirecTv to get a better deal. It is a pain but that's the game. New customers are more valuable than regular customers.

I keep an eye on my account by logging in every few months. Also have the expiration date on my desk calendar. They have always sent me email in plenty of time.
You can set a reminder on your phone too.

We use Pandora in the truck when we are on the road. Both of our phones have unlimited data (this was a special from AT&T offer) and can be a hot spot/Wifi. I can plug my phone into the radio and the phone can be play thru the auxiliary channel. We use the free Pandora site this has worked will for us out west on the interstate.

My wife will use WAZE for traffic but I ignore this when towing my 5er I am stuck on the interstates because of my size.

Thanks KyDan! Just renewed my truck and wife's jeep. $72 for a year subscription is a good deal. I haven't had XM in my truck for years and usually stream music. However, no streaming in poor reception areas is a downside. We just recently cancelled my wife's subscription because XM and I could not agree on a renewal price.

I have it marked on my calendar to call and cancel in December 2018. Then I can see what Christmas special XM is promoting for 2019.

I turn it off every 6 months. Within a week or two you get a letter for "special offer", as low as $20 for 6 months most of the time. Have been doing it this way for years. Got to call today actually.

We use Pandora in the truck when we are on the road, cancelled XM years ago because of the price just after they were bought out by their competitor , they wouldn't deal even thought I had three receivers at the time, one in my pickup, one in the Over the road truck an one in the DW car... At one time they had what was called a family plan, when I called to ask why my bill was so high an stated I had the family place they stated that there had never been such a thing. I said well then I guess I will just have to cancel everything which I did, still get offers every so often of come back to XM, no way will I ever get it again !!!

Since my 2014 only will Bluetooth to the phone....no streaming...I have this little box my oldest got me last year for christmas. It plugs into the AUX on my radio and then it connects by Bluetooth to my phone and I run Google Play Music through my radio and listen to whatever I want. I can bring it inside and hook it to my receiver and do the same. I love it.
