after a yr i see no real need for one just extra cost when getting new and then when it's time to replace the topper material . but i do agree lots of people like the extra gimmicks and love to spend money so they think they don't have to do anything extra
Yup, you nailed it...I only let gentle rain fall on my Lexi, no wind more than 10 mph, and no pine cone, branch, leaf, or debris would dare fall on my rig. I just wouldn't allow it.
I also have flush toilet, ac, and running water in my rig. Just some of those other gimmicks that will never be taken seriously.
As you said, to each there own.

This is our first RV with the slide out toppers factory installed, would not be without them now. Our previous RV did not have them, I was forever sweeping off the top of the slide outs when getting ready to change locations. I just finished disconnecting the toppers from the slides (3) to clean and treat the seals, not a big job at all but they must be pinned so not to lose the spring tension otherwise one would need to rewind both ends. My longest one is 12.5', would be easier with two people but I did it alone. I don't see why a person couldn't install these, I hate paying for something that I can do. Do it yourself or have it done, they are worth it.

Thanks everyone! I am purchasing through Amazon. Clearly for the 440 investment, it will save me a lot of headaches. Now, I just have to figure out how to get spring to show up

You should price them here before buying on Amazon. I found them less expensive and I was able to custom order colors.

Any idea the differences between the Acrylic and Vinyl options?

I bought the 5er in Dec and left for FL (maiden Voyage). Returned home in Late Feb. It was either Late Feb or March CW had them on sale with $16 installation. It was not worth $16 to do them myself. Had all three slides done.
