Slide Out Stabilizers

I am picking-up my first RV in the next few days. The RV I have purchased has a 3 foot slideout. I have read mixed reviews on the use of slideout supports. Is there anyone that has used these in the past and could give me their thoughts.

I talked to my RV Dealer at length about this. He said the cons outweigh the pro's. He told me that if the slides were built to need stabilizers they would come standard! He did say he would only use them if he was living in the RV full time and not traveling. I don't know if that helps or not.

Would only consider them in wheels off and up on blocks seasonal park situation.

Before I purchased my TT I talked to several dealers. They all said not to use the slide out stabilizers. The older TT needed the extra support but the new TT do not. If the TT was to settle and the stabilizers do not you can damage the slideout.

yep, those are holdovers from the old days of tipouts/slides when the engineering was as good as now.

i've never heard of any newer RV needing supports for the slideouts, only that the manufacturers say no and you could void the warranty on the RV slide.

but since you didn't give any info on what RV you have, it's kind of pointless to speculate.

Thanks for the advise. As its turns out the dealer failed to order the supports for me. Good thing, sounds like I saved myself some money thanks.
