So I bought the warranty :-(

We went in and signed the paperwork on a new 2014 roo 23ikss yesterday.
I ended up getting the 5yr extended warranty. After reading here now it looks like I made a mistake.
Do you think it's to late to change the paperwork since I have not taken delivery yet?
I was not aware of the second year warranty from FR or I would have just passed and gotten that.
I would really like to save the $1700 now I keep seeing it won't cover most rv problems.

Did the dealer tell you about the 2nd year warranty from FR? Mine did not and it was not until I read it here on this forum that it was even an option. There was no information in all of my paperwork either, but the dealer sure pushed their very expensive warranty, in fact my dealer just called me and said hey your first year warranty is about to expire and we have a deal for you 3 more years of coverage for 3,500 dollars......Um, NO thanks!

FR is good about allowing you to buy the 2nd year beyond their 10 day deadline, especially if your dealer didn't tell you about that option.

We sent ours in on the new 5er beyond the ten days. Got the signed-by-FR form back a couple weeks ago.

Somewhere on this forum, IIRC, someone posted a link to the form. If I *am* remembering correctly you could do a search for it.

For TTs it's $150.00 for the 2nd year, very much worth it. Again, this is going from memory. I know ours was $150.00 for the V-Lite (bumper pull) same thing for the 5th wheel.

its sad how many dealers are ripping people off with their own warranty when FR has one that is so inexpensive for an extra year of coverage. Shows the dealers are looking out for themselves only.

No I was not told about the offer of a 2nd year warranty. $150-200 sounds a lot better than $1700 :-(

So what do you think my chances are of dropping the extended warranty?

most states have laws that allow you to back out of most types of contracts within a few days. Do your research quickly, and take your results to them and demand a refund.

FR can't help here. They can sell you whatever warranty they chose. Just unfortunate they don't give the customer options and sell the one that lines their pockets.

about what? Did you get the non FR warranty too? You will have to find out what your states contract laws are. You probably have from 5-10 days to get out of it and refunded. Laws very by state.

Oh no, I passed on the $2400 extended warranty. But an extra year of factory warranty for $150? Sold, if I can just figure out how.

Canceling a Contract - Consumer Guide - IndianaConsumer.com - Office of the Indiana Attorney General - Greg Zoeller

I would search here or contact them. Not guaranteeing you can get out, like I said, each state different. Read all the fine print on your paper work too. Good luck.

oh. Lucky you. In that case, the dealer should have supplied you with the form to mail in to Forest River. I think you only have 10 days to get it in

If you do not have possession yet you might be able to flat cancel. Otherwise read the warranty contract. I too bought the extended warranty but I was able to cancel in the first 60 days for a $25 fee. My dealer didn't mention the FR 2nd year warranty and it took about two months to get the $1675 refund back from the dealer.

I'm not aware of such form. I'll call my dealer tomorrow though.

Definitely hurry. I'm pretty sure you don't have much time from date of purchase to get it mailed off.

there are two stickys about the FR 2nd year warranty, at the top of this Dollars and Cents section.
includes discussions and the forms.

it's only available for towables and only for the original FR brands and Palominos.

all the other recent FR acquisitions do not qualify for it.(Shasta, Viking, Dynamax, Prime Time and Coachmen)

Just cancel the extended warranty. I'm sure they will let you, mine can be canceled at anytime. Should be a clause in there. Remember that FR only offers that 2nd. year on certain brands. Call FR first to make sure they offer it on your unit.......
