southern rv tyler no bank draft?

Im going to pick up my lacrosse 318 from them this weekend, and my bank said they would give me draft instructions to give them for payment after pdi. Well someone from southern called my bank and said they dont do drafts? My banker said she had never delt with an auto, boat, or rv place that would not process draft instructions?....so now im just gonna take a check. Anyone else experience this?. They have been ok to deal with thus far, but i gotta drive 425 miles ONE WAY to pick this up and i dont have time or patience for any issues from this? Anyone know about this process?...

Thanks, we are very excited to get this done!

The dealer we dealt with wanted a wire transfer completed before we picked up the camper, as they were worried about fake bank drafts or cashier's checks. I don't really blame them, as the level of fraud in our country has become epidemic.
But obviously, we didn't want to pay for something we hadn't inspected, so we just took cash. Of course, carrying thirty grand in cash was a bit unsettling as well.
I would suggest traveller's checks if you could get free ones, but they are counterfeiting those as well!

I thought about taking a bag full of cash and flapping it on the desk at them.....lol.....i can see them wanting to cover their end, but obviously they had spoken with my bank and were informed we had the money, and had set up a transfer........beats me?....

Thanks

From the dealer's point of view, if they get burnt on just one camper, it takes a while to make it back. I don't really blame them for being overly cautious, as I don't trust anyone either!

Im a business owner as well, so i see their side. ...however they not only already have my deposit, but confirmation from my bank as to funds availability.......like i said im new to this, and have always had to finance my stuff through the dealer, so i have no experience just walking in and paying 30k+ for something with my own money....lol....

Well see how it goes i guess!! Wish me luck!

Had a Triumph Spitfire for sale several years ago for $2000.00 and some one went as far as to send about $4500.00 in money orders (Walmart). Thought they weren't on the level so went to Walmart and they said they were counterfit, but acted like they couldn't care less. Wayne

just thought i would update my experience with southern rv and the no draft issue. Per the finance mgr, they dont like to do bank transfer documents, because it takes too long for them to get an actual check from the bank and due to the volume they sell (like 100 units the last month) they like to get paid asap. So i understand now...for what its worth, the guys out there were awesome, and made the purchase quick and painless, and were on top of all the details and my questions as well....well worth the 800 mile round trip!!!

Odd, if I was a dealer and you came in to buy an RV, I would want to make the process as easy for you, the buyer, as possible. If you gave me draft instructions from a bank, I would call them at a phone number that In got for the bank and after confirming all was in order I would follow the instructions and the bank will send you the funds the same day. I don't understand why it would take more then one day to receive the funds? Something is not right here, what about service?

Yeah, i dont know. As it was explained to me, draft instructions are not the payment itself, but just an initiation and confirmation of payment. The actual funds are deposited after all the paperwork from dealer is processed.

Either way, it all went down smooth and quick, and southern was great to deal with, and is STILL great about answering my questions etc after the sale.

To each their own i suppose. In the end we both got what we wanted, and i felt as though i could not have been taken better care of from initial negotiations to pdi.....
