Spare tire not included?

I just bought a new 2014 Puma 27SBU and there is not a spare... Should it have come with it or is it common to have to buy one aftermarket?

According to FR literature, the spare is an option on the toy hauler and not standard equipment.

I do not doubt you at all, but that is a pure shame and FR needs to change that even through it will be a piece of junk. It can still get you down the road.

Just a poor spec by the dealer. What we were told on the 351THSS is that everything on the Pumas is an option. That includes the spare tire. Why the dealer would spec one without is up ridiculous. We ordered ours and went through the entire order sheet, everything is pretty much a standalone option, not really any packages, save for the premier edition.

I feel that way with new automobiles. More than half the models come with no spare standard. Some it's not even an option! Your option is to get a "flat repair kit" consisting of nightmare green tire slime and a compressor!

Over 30 years of camping a spare tire has Always been an option and not standard equipment on the new campers we have purchased. No matter what brand. Even in the 80s with our Terrys'....... When we ordered our Puma in 2012 it was still an option..... .... That also includes the big three on trucks 3/4 ton & over the spare tire was always optional. (Can't afford new trucks any longer.)

Like others have said, spare is an option on Pumas, just like ladders and larger ac units.
Some dealers order without alot of the options to get a better "get you looking" price. Since these options dont add alot to somebody initial floor plan list of "must haves", they are an easy way to get sales when everybody is internet price shopping now.
Luckily a spare is an easy option to add, whereas a ladder is not.

Turbs, you don't need a spare for that! You just pick it up and put it in the bed of the dually!

I have something similar that has no spare but came with run flat tires (RFT). Owners manual says to not exceed 140 mph if a tire goes flat. No problem.

OK on my Windjammer the spare tire and cover is listed in the brochure as a "standard/option". Apparently that means it is an option that must be ordered.

My interpretation of "standard/option" is it comes standard but your being charged as an option.

I don't think you will need it. Really, the dual axels allow to drive on three tires. You do need to remove the flat and keep your speed at a minimum but I have done it for 30 miles. A couple of gawkers, one from the state boys, I just nodded and they didn't stop me. A major tow service in my area (interstate) told me that's the way they do it if at all possible. Additionally, I've only used the spare when one of the other tires was beyond usage. Good luck..

You need a spare for your rig and maybe road service if you feel the need.

My Sunseeker came with a spare slung under the rear overhang. Real PITA to drop and put back up. Did not come with a jack or wrench for the lugs. Got bottle jack, breaker bar, and socket to take care things if I'm out in the boonies and cannot get hold of Good Sam Road Service. One of these days I'll take the hints of some on the forum here and go to the junkyard and get a spare tire winch rig from a pickup truck and install it.
NOW, my TOAD, the Smart car, is another issue. No spare. No room for a spare. Came with a compressor and a bottle of goo to fix a flat. Good luck with that after a flat or blowout at highway speed, right???...
