Time to order a Camper

So, my local dealer doesn't have exactly what I want. If I order a trailer, how long does it typically take for it to come in?

Still looking at a Wildwood X-Lite.

It may vary depending on the model and the factory but I would guess at about 6 weeks. Our dealer last year said we are not going to order any earlier than need be so we don't use up the warranty sitting on his lot waiting for spring. So we ordered in the first week of April and it came in before the middle of May and we got our first trip in for the may long weekend.

We factory ordered our 34RL Cedar Creek in late Feb 2015 to get the RV show price. We picked up our unit the first week of MAY 2015.

Warranty shouldn't start until you take delivery (ownership)....

We ordered our 2015 Palimino Puma 295bhss 5ver on 7/9/14 and picked it up on 8/25/14. We negotiated price back and forth for a few days then settled on a price. We picked colors and options, really good expirience. Find the best price you can on the Internet, and use that as a negotiating point, but only buy from a dealer you like with a good reputation.

Not sure but I think some plants might shut down during winter. Maybe others can chime in.

The dealer should be able to contact his sales rep for the brand, and get a general time frame to order. All divisions are different. I was told 6 to 8 weeks for our new Rockwood. The order was submitted 10-21 and I received an email last week that it was coming off the line this week, and expected to be delivered to the dealer by this Friday. That's 7 weeks to the day if that happens and Thanksgiving was in the middle of it.

Depending on when you want to use the new one, I would be careful ordering after the 1st of the year. I am told the factories get really busy when the orders start coming in from the RV shows in Jan/Feb/Mar. You are taking a chance if you wait that the time to order one may get longer.

Plan early. No date anyone gives you is going to be a guaranteed date no matter what they say.

Remember the plant closes down for 2 weeks during the holidays so that will slow your dev. date.
