This is where the dealers make their money up-selling, similar to car sales.

Just my opinion, but, a waste of money. Wax and other retail products will work for a lot less.

Hope this wasn't posted already:

Hope dealer doesn't also push/charge for pin striping and scotch guarding of interior furniture and carpeting.

Local car dealer here (yes, know it isn't rv related) charges $195 for nitrogen filled tires on the window sticker and that is not negotiable as an option.

Sounds like RV dealers are trying are picking up some of the car dealer's practices.

Too many car dealerships for me to pay for nitrogen in tires

Coatings

I had Duratain protection put on everything on my trailer. My trailer faded so bad it looks like a 15 year old trailer.I called Duratain and talked to Cathy what a joke I also was contacted by WADD the owner his comments were it was a manufacture problem with out even looking at my trailer. He offered me $400.00 to not talk bad about his product. Well that was the wrong answer I will post and show pictures of.my trailer until I take him to court I just don't want this to happen to any other person.

Wash the unit regularly and give it a good coat of nu finish or good old turtle wax and your unit will stay as shiny as ever and shed water and streaks will be no issue You can buy a lot of nu finish for that amount of money plus when you are waxing you can also inspect seals and look for any other deterioration.
Such is the nature of owning any RV.

Not on my camper, but I bought the clear coat for my new baby back in 2008 - Mazda CX7 Electric Blue - I got my money out of them - We had tree sap eat through the coating - and they paid to get the car repainted and reseal the new paint - I had to get a lawyer - but it was worth it. ( No I'm not a miserable person - I have legal knowledge - and don't like companies taking advantage of consumers. My car still looks brand new - and am so glad I did get the clear coat -

This is exactly what happened to us when we recently bought our first Rockwood Mini Lite. They offered the coating at a special price of $699. But they never mentioned the 2nd year FR warranty. I found out about it by reading on this forum.

Car dealers used this same kind of tactic many years ago; offering special coating to protect vinyl roofs... undercoating... paint protection... stain guard for the seat covers. Lots of money to be made off this kind of stuff... $50 to $100 wax job for $1000... or MORE!. Does anyone think these shysters have some kind of secret stuff that would do anything more than any good wax coating will do. Call it "space age" or "new and improved" and someone will buy it. I just bought $40 for wax and wash products and I think I was taken advantage of... its all realative.

Check the chemical composition of interior treatments before you use them, some are unhealthy. A far as the exterior I recommend Blackfire Wet Diamond, after years of trying different products it is the best I have found. Works on cars, boats and rv's, won't harm decals.

It still is - at least in Ontario. As soon as you're done with the salesman, you sit with a "Finance" person. They start with the up-selling: paint protection, fabric protection, undercoating, extended warranty, laser etched glass (to help identify the vehicle if stolen)....and on-and-on.

My buddy bought a new truck last week and went through all this. The Finance person was so relentless that she only backed off when he dropped a few F- bombs in the conversation.

that so called paint protection has to be the polymer "wax" grayfox posted ... $21.99 a bottle... get 3 and DIY... I bet if you read the fine print you have to have something done every year to keep the warranty.

Platinum Protection System Ultimate Plus
It is a 5 year coverage. Along with covering the outside it also covers the furniture in case of rips, tears punctures, burns and alot more they say.
Haven't payed for it yet and really haven't decided yet if it's worth it.
The Trailer we got new and is now 13 years old and the first 5 years we didn't have any problem. So I'm thinking it's really not worth it?
RE: Platinum Protection System Ultimate Plus
They forgot to add "Space age technology" and "European" or "Developed by Australian scientist" in the name

In my case it was called "Cilajet". Here's a Youtube address.

https://www.youtube.com/user/Cilajet

Still undecided if it was worth the money. So I'm not making any kind of recommendation either way.

I remember using nu finish on my fathers rv 25 years ago. How could you forget that bright orange bottle? Funny how it's still being recommended. Thx for the reminder. We take delivery on our 2509 in a month. Looks like I have my first weekend activity planned.

I just washed, waxed, cleaned the roof today and $1,900 is dirt cheap... go for it. I used my wife's brand new bottle of Nu-Finish... easy on and off and shines like a brand new penny. I can prove it.

Sorry Tommy D, got carried away.
