I try to save on campsites, a lot of people like Fort Wilderness but we think it's a little to rich for us. Same way at Ocean Lakes in Myrtle Beach SC. We go to Pigeon Forge TN a lot but we stay at the cheaper campgrounds. I have military retirement plus SS plus DW is retired from the state and SS. We have saved over the years and now it's time to spend. We have Goodsam plus Passport America and we stay at military campgrounds. Normally we just sleep at the campground, we don't use campground bathrooms or the pool( we can't swim) we don't need cable or free wifi and we have our own board stacked washer/dryer. We just look for a place to park that's got full hookups. Thanks to DW we have the money to do things that we couldn't do when we were young, I plan on leaving my son and grandkids only memories. We plan to spend all the money we have saved or at least I do. I tell DW all the time that should she go first I plan on marrying a 19 year old and starting over, that always gets a good laugh out of her, I'll be 72 in June yet I think I'm 25

We usually try to stay at state parks. Being over 65, we get 1/2 price at all Florida state parks and 25% off in most other state parks. We use our AARP discount about 10% off most private campgrounds.

Slightly off topic but our views are similar. We're planning as though we'll live to 100 because the possibility exists. Better to save a little more/spend a little less than to wind up broke at 92 and still have some time to go.

In reality, we'll probably go before that and there will be something left for heirs, but that's not a goal. Also, we're not reducing our lifestyle significantly in planning for longevity.

We're in California and enjoy going to the Giant's Spring Training in Scottsdale AZ. My Lady hates the desert drive and wanted to fly until we did the numbers. First we consider our rig as a second home, so it's an expense we do eat & wright off to some extent. Thus it was not an issue in this travel plan. The fuel cost and CG expense penciled out less than flying, rental car, dining and hotel/motel expense. The added value of miles and miles traveling together thought the WIDE OPEN AND EMPTY Southwest.... She slept.

Typical, we pack up and hook up the night before leaving on trip. Leave about 6:30 first day out. DW and fur baby are asleep before 7:00, wake them up about 3 hours later fo potty break. Get a few miles ahead on the trip, first day out! LOL!

Love it, what a great attitude to have 72 but thinking you are 25.... and leaving our money to anyone, don't think so, we are going to enjoy it now while we are alive and can, the children will have their time to do the same with the money they save, meanwhile let's travel and party on.. !!!
