A word of caution: any insurance premiums between Canada and the US will vary.

Comparison cannot be made.

I found US premiums to be cheaper, sometime by a wide margin, for similar coverage.

Update: Got a quote from our local insurance agent for $250/yr from Safeco. This doesn't include replacement cost. So I checked into Blue Sky. Their quote is $296/yr for basic coverage. Includes $500 deductible for collision and comprehensive. Then you can add on the following:

Blue Sky RV Motor Club

$52.00
Personal Effects
$3,000

$22.00
Diminishing Deductible Comprehensive

$13.00
Diminishing Deductible Collision

$7.00
Depreciation Buy Back

$6.00
Replacement/Purchase Price Coverage

$5.00
Total Loss Deductible Buy Back

$4.00
Emergency Expense
$750

$1.00

We wouldn't need the personal effects, since this would be covered under our homeowners insurance. The RV Motor Club doesn't look like it's worth the money, and although only a buck, I can't see where we'd use the emergency expense at this point. So adding up all the options, it comes to $331/yr or $27.58 a month. I'm going to check with my local agent again to see if Safeco can offer these options. If not, then we'll be going with Blue Sky.

Great... This is the kind of breakdown I can use as a base to compare. Wonder though... We are going for a 8281SS 5'er... A difference in coverage cost in relation to a TT?

Turns out my local INS agent can get the same coverages from Safeco for $295 vs. $331 for Blue Sky, plus the deductibles are only $250 vs. $500, so we're going with Safeco.

I just quoted with Progressive and a few others this week Progressive hass great coverages, and for my HTT I believe they were $373 for the year including replacement cost coverage. I realize my TT is probably smaller etc, but still a very good price I thought.

USAA is 219.26 a year with a 500 deductible.

Comprehensive 43.75 per 6 months - pays you, minus the deductible, f o r direct and accidental loss of, or damage to your vehicle caused by fire, theft, earthquake, hail, flood, windstorm, vandalism and other perils not specifically excluded in the policy. Breakage of glass is also covered.

Collision 59.88 per 6 months -pays you, minus the deductible, for direct and accidental loss of, or damage to, your vehicle caused by collision (like a tree or power pedestal) or upset. This coverage is not written without Comprehensive coverage. Pennsylvania law requires every private passenger automobile insurance policy providing collision coverage to be issued with a deductible not lower than $500. However, the law allows you to lower your deductible limit by completing and returning form 60DPA.

Towing and labor on the camper 6.00 per 6 months. Provides emergency roadside assistance (such as towing and flat tire changing).

Gotta love USAA
