type of mats
Hello-- We need a new outdoor mat for under our awning and were wondering if there is a preferred brand or type that is the best. We currently use indoor/outdoor carpet, but it gets so darn heavy when wet and it stays wet underneath it. Thanks in advance.

The plastic mats you find at walmart, Amazon, or camping World work great. Easy to store, easy to clean, and seem to hold up well and dry quickly. Look around for color and design desired.

I bought one like this on EBAY about 4 years ago and I really like it. Easy to clean and has a storage bag.

I have nothing but good to say about my awning mat from Fireside Mats:

I do wish it had a coupe of extra stake down points. But we haven't had a huge issue with how it is.

For a decent mat around 7' x 15' you'll probably expect to pay around $100. What I look for is that it is "breathable". Meaning water/snow/dirt will be able to pass through the mat. Those type are really easy to just shake or sweep off, they are fairly light weight, and don't take up much storage space.
I have purchased cheaper ones from wally world and the like, but they don't hold up too well.

We have a 9X12 that we got from CW and love it. We got another 9X12 from Walmart and I hate it. It stinks especially when it gets wet.

Been using one like this for two years and love it. Cleans up easily, very light weight. As others mentioned, CW, Amazon, etc.. Just shop it because prices vary greatly for same exact product.

I like these
Bought this company's based on a friends recommendation and it's terrific. Water drains right through it, light and very durable. It even came with a storage bag made of the same material. Great customer service too!

The other positive to the mats that many on here are recommending is that many campgrounds prohibit using mats on grass as it kills the lawn, but these mats on here are breathable and do not kill grass. Those that prohibit mats on grass are normally ok with people using these.
