Upgrading to 8289WS - Need Advice

Went to look at an 2016 8289Ws and the DW fell in love with it. I want to upgrade also so it is not a big deal. Pulling with a Ram 2500 HD 6.4L/4.10 gasser so I am good there. Please check my numbers below and let me know if I am in the ballpark:

Dealer: MSRP $48,329.75. Came down to $39,500 immediately (18.2%). Giving me $8k for my trade in which is not bad. OTD price $33,457.

My thoughts: MSRP $48,329.75, come down 35% to $31,413, Give me $8k for my trade, OTD price approx. $25,370

Compromise at MSRP $48,329.75, back off to 30% to $33,830, give me $7k for the trade, OTD price approx. $27,787

Unit has only 1 a/c, they want to charge me $800 for another one in the front. I have cash so financing is not an issue but I COULD let them finance it because they make money on that also. What do you think? Am I asking for too much of a concession here?

They seem to like financing so I let them ~~ for about 6 - 9 months.

That was my thought exactly. I KNOW that they make a commission if they finance it so I was gonna let them do it, then pay it off in a year or so.

I am really surprised that they let me walk out of the dealership. Now I can negotiate by phone/email....

The dealer I use is not high pressure as they are confident in their price. If they have the unit you like you will have to travel far to find a price close. The person I use is not paid commission. The dealership gets a commission on the loans from BoA. The rate is less than some of my investment return so letting them hold it a while is OK.

The good part about this is that I am not in a hurry to buy and am willing to walk away if I dont get the deal I want

I don't know about your final price, but you definitely want to get that second AC- especially if you live in Florida. From the sound of it you probably already have the 50 amp service. I think $800.00 is reasonable. Just make sure it's the 15,000 BTU. The one in the bedroom is probably 13.5. I'm really surprised there isn't one in the front. Never heard of one in the bedroom only. Of course, I'm just guessing on all this worldly advice!

I Think which is bad, That if you can get it in the ball park of 32,000 you are doing good, how much is your trade in, really worth? That's about the price for a 8289 WS. As far as the A/C if the unit is not pre wired for the second A/C That is a good price. Most come 30 amp unless they are wired for the second A/C then they have 50 amp. So not knowing that it's hard to say if 800.00 is alot, it's alot if already a 50 amp unit and I really doubt that, you might want to ask that, most come 30 amp 1 A/C. It also depends on where you do your camping, I come to Florida in the winter months, 1 A/C works fine in the summer it would be a different story. Make sure he is talking about adding it to your duct system and not just a bottom dump unit. You can never have to much A/C in a trailer, but you could get by with 1. and if it's pre wired you can add it later if needed. But just saw your from Florida, so that whole option might be out. If you camp in your neighborhood you know you would want that 2nd A/C. I stopped at the Melbourne County CG on the way to Florida City. Nice County park you have there. Good Luck sounds like your doing your home work. Offer him 32,000 OTD and he installs the second A/C free. That is still a good deal for this trailer. You picked a very nice and comfortable model. Very little problems with this model as this forum go's.

Trade in is in my sig, Catalina 24FBS. In doing my research I think that $7-8k is a fair price for my trade. Dealer started at $7k for my trade then went up to $8k. Also the 8289 is stock 30 amp with one main A/C unit in the living area and a fan in the bedroom so it is most likely NOT prewired for the second A/C. Of course the main unit is ducted all over the coach in every room. Most of our camping is in FL but in getting this model we will be traveling all over the place
