I own a 2012 V-Lite 30WFKSS. Absolutely love it. Perfect floor plan for 2 people.

Thanks for the info dave-o we really like the setup on that rig, Also how does your truck handle it? I will be running a chevy cc 4x4 5.3 & 3:42 wish I had 3:73's.

DH and I bought the 2014 30WIKSS (Island kitchen, bathroom at the tongue) about 4 months ago.

We have a 2013 30wfkss v lite and love it. We pull it with an F-150 Eco super cab 3:73 electric lock rear end if ever needed and has all factory tow packages. Equalizer 4 wdh. Spent 36 days touring WY, ID, MT Pulls extremely well in the mountains and other wise. We love the front kitchen. So do all visitors who look at it. Just the 2 of us and it is a perfect fit. Could not find a layout we liked better.

(smile) and we found the Island kitchen to be perfect for two....doesn't matter that the bathroom is "en suite" and one must walk through the bedroom to get to it....we've told all the kids and kin "it only sleeps two".

We own a Windjammer (the Rockwood version of the Flagtaff V) 3008W, front kitchen model and absolutely love it. It feels more like a home, with the kitchen separate from the living room/dining room.

We initially pulled it with a Chevy 1500 with a heavy-duty tow package. The 1/2 ton does OK on level ground, but I felt more comfortable with a bigger truck when we took it through the Smokie Mountains on our first trip, so we traded for a 3/4 ton Chevy 2500, and it pulls like it wasn't even back there.

I highly recommend the front kitchen model, but whatever you choose, congratulations.

So far my 2009 Dodge CC 1500 w/3:92 rear axle handles the 30WFKSS just fine. I say "so far" because up to this point all of my towing with this trailer has been in CT, MA, NY, PA, OH and IN (I towed it to the 2012 and 2013 FROG Rallies in Goshen) - which means I haven't experienced towing it through the mountains out west. Yes, there are some long steep climbs in PA - which the Dodge handles just fine - but I would imagine that the climbs out west would probably be a bit more challenging. Maybe someone out west who tows this same trailer with a 1/2 ton TV can comment?

Have towed my Windjammer across Canada. I would prefer towing through the mountains then the hills around Lake Superior. I kept the RPMs around 3000 and the speed would drop to about 30mph by the time I reached the top to the pass. I would always try to drop in behind a large truck and I would match their speed climbing the hills. When they started to slow down I would also. Put on 4 way flashers and continue to climb. I could have given the TV more gas and pass the large boy but why push the TV to the limit. Put about 7000 miles per year. Traveling from east to west then back again. A bigger truck would be nice but why spend the money if you do not have to. I am retired and in no hurry to get from point A to B. When pulling the TT I try to travel 300 miles per day or less. When we cross a time zone we usually stop for an extra day to get our bodies use to the time change. The 3000 mile trip takes 12 to 15 days to complete.

We have a 2012 30WFKSS and love it, it is the perfect set up for 2 people. We tow with a 06 Chevy Silverado 1500 6.0 Vortec Max and 4:1 rear end or my husbands 02 2500HD 6.0 though no sure on rear gears.

392 gear makes up for a lot, several members (PULL) with a (5.3-342 gear).To each their own? Youroo!!

We have a 2013 30WIKSS that we pull with a 2013 GMC 2500HD 4x4. Our biggest adventure so far has been the 17 day trip from Houston to Goshen and back for the rally. Mostly interstates, some moderate mountains in Tenn and Ark, but nothing like the Rockies or Sierras. I wish we got better gas mileage, but I feel comfortable with having enough truck to get us wherever we're going.

Having the bathroom in the nose works fine for us as we rarely have company. When we do I just tell them that we have no problem with them walking through our bedroom in the middle of the night, but if they'd rather venture out to the bath house that's their option. We are long time tent campers so privacy is not a major issue for us. Being able to confine the dog to the bedroom and bathroom works great when we want to go out for a couple of hours. She gets the whole bed instead of her usual half and has two windows she can monitor.

While in Goshen we toured the Rockwood/Flagstaff factory and they were making V-Lites and Windjammers that day. We were very impressed by the operation. The people at the factory were great. We had them repair some owned-caused damage before heading home. They did a wonderful job and had our Tillie looking brand new in five hours. Very happy with our V-Lite.

Were just about to order a 28wrbs and they up and changed the floorplan. Can no longer get the 'U' shaped couch. Now comes standard with 2 chairs or stadium seating. You can still order with a standard couch but you no longer have outside storage under the seats.

We are now looking at the 831FLSS. A bit more camper, but with the King Dinette option we can get essentially the same floorplan, same number of beds, and a longer bed in the master. Going to cost about $3500 more. Oh well, I plan on keeping it for at least 10 years.

We sold our house and moved into a 2013 30WFKSS so we could freely travel for our retirement. (Best choice we ever made!)

We are towing with a 2012 RAM 1500 quad cab w/ 3.92 gears and Firestone air assist in the rear coils. We spent 5 months towing from FL to Seattle, WA, down the west coast and back to FL to enjoy the winter weather. Overall towing mileage has been between 11 MPG @ 60MPH.

While I know a fifth wheel probably tows better, we didn't want to have to use a heavy truck as our primary (only) vehicle. Since our stays are usually two weeks or more, we spend a lot of time driving untethered. The 1500 is a very comfortable truck for everyday use.

If I planned on travelling in the Rockies on a regular basis, I would probably opt for a 2500/diesel as some of the pulls were a little tough. For a variety of personal reasons, we will not be travelling anywhere near the Rockies again ... we missed the South!

My only complaint with the V-Lite is that the original tires on the trailer were barely adequate to handle the weight of the unit (Load Rating C). I had two of them come apart with less than 8000 miles. All four have been replaced with Goodyears (Load Rating D).

I looked long and hard at the vlite and other V fronts. Loved many of the floor plans but.....did not like the small amount of outside storage. I was coming from a 5er and spoiled to all the space but if this had been my first RV, I'd have bought the v front.

I was simply saying that I would recommend a 2500/diesel for 'regular' towing in mountains ... which I will not do again.

The only complaint re: V-Lite was the inadequate tires installed on new units by Flagstaff. I had two of them totally disinegrate. Technically they meet the weight specs, but barely. Flagstaff very openly admitted that this was an issue when I spoke with a Warrantee Specialist.

I think minimum tire quality is common in the RV industry, especially on 5ers. I lost all 4 E range tires within 5000 miles on last 5er due to tread separation and blowouts.
