Warranties
Can someone please give me the details of the extended FR warranty for year 2? I was told by my dealer that it did not cover the same things as the year 1 warranty, and that it wasn't worth it. Please clarify if you have it.
Also, can someone tell me if you have an extended warranty, through who, and how long it is for?
Thanks

In the search box above put in '2nd year warranty' and you'll find several links to info like this:
http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...cky-12344.html
However, Colombus isn't on the original list. Don't know if they added it or not. I got it on our Sabre and it was done over the phone with FR directly, dealer wasn't involved. Well worth the $ IMHO.

I attached the warranty form. I do not buy extended warranties but this is not a bad deal for the second year. I take the money I would have spent on warranties and buy "spare" to have on hand if something does go wrong. If your some what handy I would not get it. Considering if something goes wrong you still need to find someone to fix it. Just me.

i was told it covered the same things as the first year warranty.
many dealers say things like that, to get customers to buy the 3rd party warranties that the dealer gets a commission on.

Why don't the Dealers tell you about this when you are purchasing, I just found out about it and the registration form says that it has to be turned in within ten days of purchase and I bought mine last summer.

because the dealers don't make any money out it, like they do selling 3rd party warranties that gets them commissions.
FR can't force them to mention it. the RV industry doesn't work like the Auto industry.

I opened the attachment above and it has some units at $150 and others at $250. Columbus is not listed. Does anyone know if it is $150 or $250? Either way, it seems like a great deal if it gets you through and extra season and another winter. (BTW, my 340RK comes off the line May 3rd. I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas.)

Not all dealers. We bought our 2604WS from Tropical RV in Ft. Pierce Fl and they actually gave us the 2nd year warranty application already filled out with our TT info. They told us we had 10 days to think about it. No pressure and did not try to sell us a 3rd party warranty.

My dealer tells me this warranty extension is not available in Canada. Does anyone know if this is true?

I hope not, cause I was planning to get it. I am not paying our dealer the $2000. roughly that they quoted us. What a rip off.

Ed, if I was you I'd send in the form and the $150 and let them tell you the warranty isn't available in Canada and send your check back.....I'm bettin' they keep it and enroll you in the extended warranty.

I called FR warranty and they tell me that the same warranty everyone is talking about is available to Canadian buyers as well. He sent me a copy of the same form everyone finds on this site and says to fill out the info and send a cheque and you and you are in.

There is no need to involve the dealer. I will spend most of my time in the southern states during the winter, no where near my dealer. He has done well by me so far and I have given him another chance to look into the extended warranty issue. We will see what he comes up with.

Did they confirm it was $150? I was wondering because it lists comparable higher end models for $250. I would like to make sure before I go ahead. We are picking ours up Monday, so will be sending a cheque in that day.

$150 is what everyone talks about. The info I received only included the application form, no price list. The units that were $250 were up higher in sticker price. Take the form with you when you pick up. My dealer says he will check further into it for me. At the same time he has a 6 year package for me. ;.)

New to the site and love it! Glad I clicked on this tag my 10 days are up tomorrow so I printed the form out an am dropping it in the mail. I am usually anti extended warranty but for $150 its worth the risk.

There is no risk, what a deal for $150. It cover the second year just like the first, same warranty. The one that the dealers would like to sell you will not be as good because it doesn't cover things like frames, axles or delamination. In most cases the service plan/extended warranty that the dealer would like to sell you is about 50% profit to the dealer. Please also keep in mind that the dealers are not required to tell you about the Forest River 2nd year warranty for $150 and I was told that by the V-Cross, Forest River warranty dept.
