Sounds like a plan, I've been here since 1993, had no plans to stay when I came here on a contract for two years, however to cut a long story short, after two company buy outs and numerous extensions and my unwillingness to relocate after meeting the love of my life, I've settled in Florida.
There is a lot to see, with some must sees. I found the Smithsonian in Washington DC interesting, Statue of Liberty and Niagara Falls and of course a few days in New York City, although New York doesn't lend itself to RV's. Will you be towing a dinghy?
Just paint a big Aussie flag on the front of the rig and they will understand.

One of my most favorite places and I visit as often as I can is the Blue Ridge Parkway, once drove from one end to the other and after looking at your rig online, it's something that you could do. If it had been a class A I wouldn't recommend however I have seen class c's often.
