Thumbs up What was the best deal you got...

What was the best deal you got on the stuff in your RV?

A coleman lantern at a yardsale for $1.00?
Found a dutch oven in your uncles old barn?
Made something handy from scrap or junk?

What was the best deal on "stuff" you ever got?

Well this sounds kinda domestic compared to Gensets and all, but I picked up 8 place-settings of great old-pattern corelle dinnerware for $20 US on Ebay. Way better than camperfare.

Also found 8 of the coolest steakknives - Real curvy and fit your hand - in a velvet-lined walnut case for $2.00 in a yardsale. Ran an Arkansas stone over them and they slice a steak like a friggin scalpel.

Bushnell 7-21x40 zoom binoculars in new condition - a yardsale bargain at $4.00. Great for checking out the neighbours... great for checking out what they're reading for that matter.

I noticed Powrboaters mention of campground value. Ours is a great value too, $850 for the season from Early May to mid October - Most area campgrounds run $1500 and are 4 weeks shorter. Good deal but an even better campground.

I got a free step ladder and a free hard rake the same way. I bet running over the hard rake would have ruined some tires and somebodys day.

I have a bunch of household items left over from my mother-in-law passing away. Towels, kitchen stuff, and so on...squirrelled away waiting for my savings account to catch up with my imagination.

Just today at a garage sale I bought an old tool box with loose change in the top and started that there was more than the $1.00 they wanted. They said it's still only a $1.00. Well I bought the tool box with tools(mostly junk) for the $1.00. Got home counted the change and there was $4.55!! I took the couple of good tools and will garage sale the rest.

Talk about giving money away and a quick good return on investment.

At another bought an old Berkley rod and real never used with original line for $12.00. Heck the graphite rod(5 pieces) is worth about $20 to $30 dollars and the real still has the original stickers that it is spooled with factory Berkley line!!

This weekend is turning out to be good.....and I want to thank all veterans for their service to my country and thier's.

Two kegs of Stroh's beer for free. Buddy and me on the way to class were at an intersection. Pick up in front got the green light and took off. 4 kegs filed out of the bed of his truck. Unknowing he kept going. Well it was a traffic tie up, so we got the 2 in the middle the street, the exxon mechanic got one and the other rolled aimlessly to the other side of oncoming traffic. We took our bounty and had a great weekend at the local beech on the river. None yet for camping. But the eyes are always open.

Gas prices between Maryland and Virginia are 2.99 to 3.10 a gallon. I know how you feel, I travel 80 miles one way, and see prices of gas change from the time I get to work to the time I pass the same gas station on the way home. I drive a Chevy Astro van, I get between 18 to 21 mpg. I hear that gas prices are over 4.00 dollars a gallon in California. Is this a fact, anyone know? The prices of gas that I mention are from Northern MD to Northern VA.

CW had a bunch of 30AMP RV extension cords on clearance. I asked the lady for a price, as there was none.... $9.95 and $11.95... "Just because they are switch brands and need to get rid of these."

I bought all three 50 footers they had.. to at $10 and one at $12.

When we changed tow vheicles I needed to get a different shank so I went back to the dealer where I bought the HTT. He set me up with one that was used ( it looked new to me) complete with the ball and adjusted it for the new TV at NO charge. I figured it saved me at least $100. That's our best deal so far.
