Wholesale new or 2012 rental used purchase
First timer here. We've been looking for a couple of months at purchasing our first rv. We've decided on a Forester 2691s. I've read a bunch on the forums about the instant depreciation on a new purchase and was fairly set on buying used. Finding one though has been very difficult.
I found a 2012 model with 21,000 miles that has been a rental for one year. We're in Arizona but did go take at look at it last week (San Diego area) and it appears to be in good shape with only a couple of interior wear items. The dealer says $52,600 is as low as he'll go. It has a service agreement that has a little under two years left on it.
The other option I'm looking at is a new purchase thru rv capital wholesalers for exactly $10,000 more. We would pick it up ourselves. The sticker on these is right around $90,000.
I just seem to have a difficult time justifying a used rental with that many miles and who knows what kind of abuse when I can get new for only ten grand more.
The used dealer insist its a better deal because all the kinks have been worked out. I couldn't find a scratch on the exterior.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
