A full body paint or the generic paint and stickers, the dealer will only give you the book value on it, if you're that lucky. Like others have said, you can put a 20k paint job on a 10k car, but no one will pay 30k for a car that's only worth 10k.

One thing to consider is that, some dealers may offer you less on a trade due to it may be hard to resell it. The RV dealer we deal with when our TT needs work, has a full body painted Redwood that they took in on a trade and they can't sell it because no one likes the color scheme of the paint and they said they'll never take a full body paint RV again in for a trade. It's been sitting there for close to 2 years

When you are buying, the salesman makes a big deal about full body paint, but when you trade in.........good luck

It really depends on the buyer.

I won't even pay the $350 for the "special colors" when we buy a new car so 10K for RV paint is certainly not happening. I am a cheapo though

Honestly, my choice would be a plain RV with just like a light grey paint and maybe a couple shades darker on the bottom. Hold the swirls and dots or whatever they call that stuff that they always put on every rv ever

Airstream doesn't seem to have a problem with a "no paint job". To each his own. It was the paint job that originally attracted both of us to the Aviator. We saw one pull into the same CG we were in and thought it was the best looking TT either of us had ever seen. It was all downhill from there.

Full body paint on our 2016 2801 had a list price of $5,593, we paid $3300 and for us worth the look it gives this coach.

Although I am not the wealthiest person around, I like how things look that I own as well as the function. Even if I don't get my money back, it's worth the $3300 to feel good about what I own and proud of the way others look at it as well.

For those, like me, that don't particularity like to wash/wax rigs, a $35 truck wash as we travel does a great job and with modern clear coats you never *really* have to wax the rig (again, many would disagree, but ask a body shop). Just the ease of maintenance also makes full paint worth it to *me*.

All is needed is experience from fade and one quickly understands the value of full body paint. My 2015, now 2 years old, has had 2 cap re do's and finally a full cap replacement . The inconvenience, frustration, time, travel, loss of unit, would be more than a paint job cost. I would bet more RESALE dollars would be returned. Not trade in dollars; resale dollars.
Many 5ers report fade in both caps, should they be so equipped. Most people are creatures of their youth and gravitate to shiny, glistening, items. At least in my generation. BUT, things change. Look at Harley Davidson. Selling most of the FLAT BLACK bikes they can build! Heck, I am beginning to like the look myself!
Don't see that in RV'ing future right now, but, never say no! 😎
