Wondering eye

I've had the current camper for a 1.5 years and have developed a wondering eye. That's right, have been looking at other campers.

The current camper is / has been great and we have about 6k miles on it and it is very good condition.

We've been looking at a 4 season RV, not forest river. (unable to locate a F/R 4 season RV) Anyhoo - the dealer offered me $200 less than I paid for the camper NEW. That is without any negotiation on the new camper. He also seemed willing to deal on the MSRP for the new camper.

The old adage - "don't go broke on a good deal" holds true. But we probably won't go broke on the deal but it seems too good to be true.

Something to think about.

I was told that the average trade in is every 2 years. I know I do it every 1.5 years or so. Usually when there is an RV show or the wife gets pregnant again.

Lots of dealers selling for 30 - 40% off the MSRP. If he's offering you high trade-in value, he may be a lot less flexible on the discount from MSRP.

Thanks, Dave.

Did some searching and found a dealer that lists prices in the 30% below MSRP range.

That is good to have in the back pocket when or if negotiations kick in.
