Hey, hey, hey, the shipping tube came today!!!
I certainly didn't get it installed in 15 minutes like the mechanics. Took me more like 3 hours. Ah, but here's the rest of the story, like the famous man says...
So here's this bullet-proof tube at my door. I cut the tape off, but it's riveted at both ends and the middle. Thought about gettin' out the AR-15, but I finally decided to drill the rivets off in the middle. So, the most work on this project involves getting the shipping tube open.
But wait, it calls for pop-rivets. I don't have a tool, my neighbors don't have a tool. Oh, hold on, there's an optional stainless steel bolt, so I rumage thru my bolt bins. OK, time to go to Home Depot buy tool and bolts.
I'm back, everything's ready to go... unbolt, bolt, drill, fasten, bolt, drill, pop, drill, repeat... no wait, open a McUltra, and take a break. Now, repeat. Done. Well, almost. Open another McUltra, and put up the ladder and the tools. Not bad for my first pop-rivet job.
Actual labor, not much, ease of job, fair, most time spent on... pharting around. Here's a couple pics:
