20,000 mile service

Ouch - $1,288 + tax. Includes rotating tires and a bath.

Mercedes Sprinter dealer. They had warned me at 10,000 that the 20,000 was a biggie. Guess I use our Solera too much! 20,000 miles in a year. Oh well, it's only money, and I sure do enjoy our trips!

$1200.00 - Yikes. Well, the up side is that I can do the oil change on the Sprinter in my driveway. Couldn't do that with the old pusher (27 quarts of oil was too much to handle in the driveway!). So oil changes/filter changes etc. used to cost close to $400.

I suspect I'll rotate my own tires, change my own oil, and hopefully lower the cost of that 20K service. M spec Mobil 1 much cheaper on Amazon than what I suspect a dealer is going to charge.

I have a question for all of you. I received a letter from MB the other day about my warranty stating that it was due to expire and that I needed to respond to this letter by Dec. 19th, It basically stated that my factor warranty has expired? It then goes on to show me additional coverage but doesn't show what the cost is. Thing is I've only had the Solera for about 1 1/2 years and it only has 15000 miles on it. Have any of you received a like letter on this and is it something that I need to look at?

Henry - are you sure the letter is from MB? I don't have my owners manual at hand, but seems theres a 3-year 36K mile warranty (plus 100K on the engine/drive train) I get letters frequently from aftermarket warranty companies. They are designed to look "official" but on closer examination are not. If you are interested in an aftermarket warranty, you might want to consult an MB dealer - they probably offer one. I'm afraid a lot of these outfits are scammers.

I'll let you know tomorrow when I get it back. But, besides all the usual stuff, changing oil, etc., they did rotate the tires, replace all the filters, topped off fluids and I'm assuming some other things. They did find a seal that was leaking fluid and they are going to replace that ... but that is covered under warranty.

Hi Ed

Ya I'm starting to think this is one of those scammer policies. I think MB would be a little more information available with their warranties. I'll let it go with that.

Thanks

I agree with Ed, I think this is just a scam or another company wanting to sell you an extended warranty. We get calls all the time saying our cars are about to be out of warranty and we need to act now. I would really be surpised if it was MB.
