2010 Solera - Shower Rod/Curtain
Hi!
I want to replace the glass shower door with a curtain due to ruined rollers. When I removed the shower doors I was surprised how heavy they are so I decided to use a curtain.
Did anyone figure this out already?
If this was a prior topic pardon me, the search engine here does not help much.
TIA
1Hoinar

You should look at the SEA Arcadia. It has the same pattern as the glass doors but is plastic and unlike a shower curtain will not "flow" and stick. Mounts in roughly the same location and bows out to allow more shoulder room
We have contemplated this to cut weight...but there is a serious kick back on curtains and plastic. (perceived cheapness)

Thanks!
Just what I had in mind. I'll order one today. Of course I'll keep the old shower doors for added value if we ever sell (not) our Solera!
Getting ready for a month trek this summer!

Wondering what your experience has been with the soft shower door... Did you find a source for it? Was it expensive? Was it reasonably easy to install? How do you like it now that you've had it for a while?
Just looking for any info you can shed on this topic...
Thanks!

I'll chime in on this. I removed the shower door yesterday and replaced it with a shower rod and curtain. I liked the one posted by BClemens, but I felt it was probably beyond my installation skill level. I was always bumping my elbows into the old shower door and thought having a door that made the shower bigger would make the toilet area even smaller. The new rod and curtain make the bathroom seem a lot larger, add a little color to the room and I'm not bumping against a hard glass door! And I lost 58 pounds.

Shower Door
So I take it there is not a direct plastic replacement for the glass doors. I have a 16R?? This is in response to Bclemens.

Wondering where you purchased it from, how much does it cost, and does the Solera have 'wall backing' at the bracket positions ?
Thanks,

The Arcadia shower door from SEA mounts the exact same way as a glass shower door...its just a plastic curtain and not glass so the wall backing would be there.
As for where to buy, you should be able to get some info from the mfg.

Hello 1hoinar,
on your initial post you mentionned ruined rollers. The top ones or the bottom ones ? I just changes the bottom ones today, quite easy.

Shower door
Hi!
Top rollers were damaged and I couldn't find the right replacements. My unit is older than most (Solera pioneer, here!). Roger had excellent input but I ended up replacing my door the cheap way (Walmart). I would love to find the right rollers.

First you will have to determined which door you have, a SEA or Irvine. They first told me I had a SEA but finally found it was an Irvine.
I just sent them an email with pictures and they mailed me the new parts for free.
You will find all the info on the thread Shower door guide
Good luck.
