2014 24S Solera Slideout
I have a 2014 24S Solera. It has a Lippert 'sofa slide out.' The motor is under the slide and moves the room in and out on two rails. Does anyone know if this slide can be operated manually (if the motor fails)?

On our 2012 "S", there is a hex "nut" shaped end on the motor shaft. I believe the slide can be moved by turning this "nut", which turns the motor shaft, with a wrench (ratchet or some sort of driver). Power off - or motor will be locked.
Also, I believe you can just push the slide in or out after disconnecting the motor/gear assembly - two "shear pin bolts" on the bottom which connect the two drive shaft outputs to the motor assembly through a hollow, square (as I remember) shaft. Pretty easy to pull the bolts which connect the square drive tubes to the motor shafts - then the slide is quite "pushable".

I too have been curious about this. I'm not sure how to access the motor for my dinette and bedroom slides on my 2015 S. What should I be looking for?

On our 2012 "S", only one slide. Dinette. Motor and gears visible from bottom, mostly reachable through propane compartment. Next compartment back is also open on top to expose a slide gear rack.

Thanks for your speedy reply, JLeising. There is no hex nut on the motor shaft on mine. I do see where the motor could be disconnected, but I had been in hopes of an easier method. I sure wish the documentation I received with the rig covered this! No problems with the slide out, but I wanted to know what to do if it didn't slide in one day.

Look again at the motor assembly for a hex end either 5/8" or 3/4". Rotating that nut counter clockwise will retract the slide manually. Lippert is emphatic that you disconnect the electric power suppy to the motor to prevent damage and al beit injury if it actuates unexpectedly during manual retraction.
Oh, just a heads up when you're under there, check for bolt tightness on all slide nuts where the slide rail terminates and connects to the outer wall of the slide. All of mine were surprising not completely snugged up.

Still Kickin, is the nut circled in red the one you're talking about? It's located on the side furthest from the slide out. It would take quite some time to get the slide in by turning that!

That is it. As noted above, I would pull the "shear bolts" on the output shafts and push it in/out. Agree, the manual bolt is in an awkward spot.

Thanks, JLeising. I hope this is information I never need to use, but it's good to know how to get the slide in if there is an emergency!

One thing you might consider is pack a china freight cordless drill w/ socket as a much quicker way to wind that bad boy back in. Do remember to pre-print the step procedure so you're not missing anything prior to retraction. Step one, set drill to reverse setting........
