2014 Mercedes Chassis
Are there any photos of a Solera on the new 2014 Mercedes Chassis available? Also, other than what has already been answered on these forums (cab height, murphy bed future, etc.), are there any other changes? Is the same engine (now a Mercedes option) going to remain in place? Is the cab floor/coach floor height difference altered in any way? Has the profile/aerodynamics of the front cap changed?
These forums and Mr. Clemens have been of great help in informing my purchase decision. My configuration looks as though it will need to be ordered. I understand (as mentioned in another thread) that all new orders at this point will be on 2014 chassis. As there are no 2014 chassis builds in stock locally to see first hand, any additional information would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks for those, i'm just not sure though as I understand the 2014 "Solera" was built on the 2013 "Mercedes" chassis until very recently. I know it was mentioned that two were built for mid-september events so those were the ones I was hoping to find photos of somewhere.

My 2014 Solera 24R was delivered Sep 13. The front cap bottom where it meets the cab is not like any of the other Soleras I have seen. It seems to be a little more areodynatmic than previous versions.

New cabs we're getting are a little different cut out. Cap sits closer to cab roof.

Wow it does sit lower. Is that where you get the 5 inches?

Some. We took an inch or so out of the floor as well.

Bclemons,
I have a 2010 Solera on a 2008 chassis and would like to know if there are any plans to build a Solera with a more streamlined (class B type) overhead. I see that the 2014 is a bit more streamlined. My wife and I never use the overhead for sleeping and it is just a place that is used for handy storage. A smaller B type would be great. On a recent trip through the Rockies that included 4 very high mountain passes, we experienced 14.4 MPG. Once we got on the flat ground the MPG increased to 16.6. Fabulous performance.
Thanks,
George

Was that mileage with the V6 or the 5 cylinder?

We have talked about it, but I would not expect anything real soon. The fiberglass work takes forever to get tooled. We'd like to do a streamlined B+ on an E350 chassis, maybe with the V8 for better fuel economy. And possibly on a Sprinter in the same format.
