2015 Forester MBS 24R - First Camping Experience

Here are a few things we learned during a first "real" camping trip in our new rv. We spent one night in it at the dealership when we took delivery. We had no previous experience with a MH, our prior rv was a fifth wheel.
1) My husband loves driving it ~ handles beautifully and has plenty of power.
2) We do need to add some sort of sway bar.
3) MPG, to be determined.
4) Visibility out of curb-side mirror is poor. We are looking into buying a clip- on tow mirror mentioned in the forum by DaveJordan. They are on sale, too!
5) The bed is comfortable ~ hard to make up, but most rv beds are, I think??
6) The step down from the bedroom area to the bathroom/living area is a killer. We both stumbled once…..okay, maybe twice!
7) The shower is small, but we're glad it has a glass enclosure.
8) Dinette is comfortable to sit and enjoy a meal. A small pillow placed on the end by the wall makes it comfortable for TV viewing in the evening. Both TV's worked fine. Ours came with surround sound, but we only had it working when we played a DVD, or listened to music. Regular TV, no. We have to work on that.
9) The kitchen is actually very functional. The flip up counter top is great, and I love the big, round sink!
10) This was a fair-weather trip, so we didn't use the a/c or heater. We did test both at the dealership, and it seemed fine.

So, we are very pleased with our decision to buy our new toy.

In closing we send a salute to our valued servicemen out there…..we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Travel safe!
Jim and Mary Ann

Great to hear your positive experience.
I remember you didn't get the rear stabilizer, did you feel any difference?
Was driving difficult without the sway bar?
I'm still working on my shopping list so would love to hear your feedback.
Happy Camping!
Jeff

Hi, Jeff -
Yes, that's right....no stabilizer. Our spot was pretty level, so Jim just used chocks, and it was okay. For now that isn't a top priority for us. The sway bar, however, we will be getting. We're going to contact our dealer to see about getting one installed when we take the MH in for the warranty repairs.
I forgot to mention how well the rear camera works. It can be turned on while driving, and Jim said it does help a bit with visibility out of the passenger side window. We did order the clip-on mirror mentioned by people here. It was on sale, so we thought we'll take a chance. Jim would really like to be able to get a longer view of the lane next to us...so we'll see.
Happy shopping! Take care!

6) its brand new. You'll get used to it as I have.

8) I posted a video on running the "Over the air" audio through the surround.

I just did a hard copy version for the sales guys. I will post that in its own thread...but I'll post it here since you mentioned it. This is just the rough draft...video is better.

Haha....glad to hear one can get used to the step down!

Thanks VERY much for posting the video and the written instructions on the surround sound. As my kids would say, "You rock"!
