Awing Cover While Stored

My Solera sits outside next to the garage when we are not traveling. I don't like the idea of having the awnings exposed to the sun here in Florida during this storage period. I have been thinking of a way to have a removable cover for the awnings and thought of using vinyl rain gutter. Thought I was being original until I found this on the web.

This is my project for the day.

Meant to title "Awning Cover While Stored".

Job complete and should work great. I have a 24R and the rear bedroom slide does not have a rain gutter, but an easy fix. Heated the rear gutter section (back) enough to bend out slightly. Tucked it under the rear clearance lights and held in place with elastic bungee across the top.

Do it all the time....If you have the underneath 5" storage tubes, the gutter(s) can also be used to support sewer hose, or act as a drawer for the tubes

Sure glad someone found the 5" pvc post covers and caps. I hear they are not available in Washington state.

I got vinyl gutter at Home Depot for about $7, My 2300 has a gutter so it works fine, I have had it for about 6 months and it's holding up fine. Make a BIG sign to put on your dash. Bad news if you drive with them in place!

So I assume this cover is made of plastic or vinyl/ Is it a piece of vinyl eaves trough. ?
I work at Home Depot and not sure of what you are using. How do you keep it fastened to the toppers or the awning. ? Or is it just for the awning ?.

Need more details/specs
Thanks

Haven't seen the right shaped plastic gutter at HD....needs to be the style Lowes carrys.....look'n from the end, is the same shape from top to bottom on both sides...HD's, at least here, is a directional type meaning at the top of one side it has a lip to slide under roofing material..I just turn the open side of gutter down and push it down...holds it self on over awning material...this is only to protect it while storr'n rv...yes to what you called it.

Awning cover

I have a better idea...the big box stores sell collapsible, accordion style lightweight 5-inch drainpipe. Expandable to 15 feet...for about ten dollars. Get a length, and while still in the collapsed state, run it through a table saw two times, cutting a three inch wide gap lengthwise along the hose. Expand the hose and simply snap it over your rolled awning. Easy on and easy off...plus it collapses for easy storage.

I like the idea of the collapsible tube. My question; does it give 100% coverage up to the awning attachment point or is there a small area exposed to the elements?

In my area HD carries the correct shaped gutter that will hook into the RV channel. Lowes carries two types without the lip.

Wouldn't depend on how one trimmed the ends....lot of work verses climbing up a ladder, plus a lot of awnings are 16+ feet...gutter comes in 8' foot lengths and you can just slide the two to whatever length needed.

With the lip being on the top edge, when you turn it to the bottom the rest of gutter is higher up. To me, that would keep it above the material and I don't think there's enough flex in lip.,.but, everybody can do whatever works for them
