Backwards Faucets

How many of you have Soleras in which your shower and sink faucet knobs turn the wrong way? I think its the hot water knob specifically, it turns off from the opposite direction that it should.

At some point I'm going to have to see if I can correct this; very annoying esp. when one needs to turn down the hot water quickly in the shower!

Faucets mounted upside down

Shower faucets and outside shower controls are mounted upside down. The shower control should have the hose coming out the bottom. If you look closely there is a drain hole in the top (this should be on the bottom)
You have to remove the complete assembly from the shower wall, disconnect the hot & cold connection (be careful you don't drop the sealing gaskets) turn the complete assembly over reconnect the water lines, check for water leaks before remounting the assembly. Re-caulk. Reinstall the valve cores (don't mix them up). When finished, swap the "H" & "C" inserts on the knobs.

This should correct the wrong installation at the factory by a "BUBBA" worker.

There was a quite lengthy post about this problem of the wrong installation on a earlier post.

the faucet in the shower in my rockwood also works backward. i can't turn it over because it has a tub filler spout. don't know why they would put a "tub filler" faucet in a spa shower. the base is not deep or big enough to use as a tub.Hmmmmmm, maybe the wife could use it to wash clothes in.

Forgot mention about -----------

Forgot mention about correcting the outside shower, very easy. Get access to the rear of the outside control (WHERE HOT & COLD CONNECT)
remove the cold and hot lines, switch the two. Put the hot where the cold is and put the cold where the hot was. Now switch the "H" & "C" inserts on the control knobs.

This is the quick fix for your outside shower.

I have a 2011 Wildwood 26TBSS and I have the same problem, all faucet handles are backwards. Are they supposed to be this way?

My Palomino inside shower and outside shower handles turn opposite directions. Drives me nuts! Seems this would be a safety issue.

We have a 2011 Salem 30kqbss and all of the 2 handled faucets have the hot side turning backwards to turn it off. We just figured this is the way they are made even though it seems kind of dangerous.

I kinda think my shower knobs both turn "on" the same direction. The bath & kitchen faucets are fine.

That being said, I stayed @ the Knight's Inn in Galax, VA a few years ago & the hot & cold taps were crossed up. I guess the plumber's apprenticeship in VA doesn't cover that.

First I'd like to clarify that it is not a "BUBBA" installation error. I just checked the units on the line and the faucets (shower & sink) come that way. The Hot & Cold plugs are pre-installed. We just put them in per the mfg specs.

Having said that, it appears the sink does turn opposite the shower.

Sink: Hot-Counter Clockwise Cold-Clockwise (Which matches what a lever faucet would do)
Shower: Hot-Clockwise Cold-Counter Clockwise

I checked our office bathrooms and a lever faucet turns like the sink, but the knob faucet right next to it, both handles turn counter clockwise.

So I'm not exactly sure what to tell you, it seems to vary by faucet mfg.

Checked online to see if they-------------

Checked on line to see if they are installed. Your statement , "They came that way" But why are they mounted upside down in the shower. There is a drain hole in the top of the front trim plate, How does water drain out the top through the drain hole? When you look at the shower assembly, the shower hose comes out the top of the assembly, as installed at the point of assembly at the plant. When you install the shower assembly with the drain hole in the bottom and the shower hose on the bottom, The hot & cold water work the way they are suppose to.

Look at your product closely, do you water test just "ONE" to see if the water valves work the right way?

A lot of people on this forum have removed and reinstalled the shower assembly properly to make it work the way it is suppose to.

Something must be wrong for the subject to even come up about incorrect installation!

I don't know about the units you rep, but the Rockwood 8285WS and the Flagstaff unit of the same floor plan and model are incorrect! I have personally talked to the Rockwood people about the problem.

I'm only commenting on the Solera (this is a Solera Sub Forum). Our shower wand comes out of the bottom of the fixture and I saw no drain hole on ours.
