Fuel with biodiesel content greater than 20%, including B100, is not approved by Mercedes-Benz due to the risk of severe engine damage. Any damage caused by the use of such non-approved fuels will not be covered by the Mercedes-Benz New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

According to this Mercedes statement the 5 to 20% is approved.

Never used it for the longest it sat of 4 mo. and no issues. Can't speak to any longer than that. One thing you want to do, is keep your tank topped off to preclude any condensation inside the tank during longer storage/use periods.

For those Minnesota and Wisconsin residents- I talked to the fuel manager for Kwik Trip stations. In Wisconsin you will find 0% Biodiesel at their pumps. In Minnesota they have the mandated 10% in the summer and 5% in the winter.

According to the attachment on post #16 only B5 is approved for use and anything higher is not approved/authorized for use in MB engines. As far as Biodiesel in MN...after stopping at a couple stations looking for straight diesel I finally asked and the gas station manager stated that he really didn't know what he had in his tanks. He said that sometimes he gets B5 other times B10 or B20...whatever shows up. Since the guidelines for marking pumps that contain biodiesel only require that they are marked B5 to B20 you really don't know what you are getting. IL was pretty much the same way, and since all parties from the refineries to the sellers have a monetary incentive to sell biodiesel (the higher the % bio the higher the incentive according to Federal regulations/guidelines) you can see where this has the potential of going...just saying.

So, it appears that the GOVERNMENT, through it's intrusion, may cause economic harm to diesel owners. Leave us alone!
