Thanks for the info on the Jackshaft opener. I will probably make use of it with the door below. I realized that a typical sectional garage door would use 7 inches of the 12 ft clearance. I found a roll up door that will provide complete clearance. There are many on the market but an example is at: Model 2000 - Rolling Steel Commercial Garage Door (Roll Up) RollUp2000 | Curtain Steel Roll Up Doors. I would have to modify the existing door anyway and this would keep the 12 ft slab to truss clearance.

Thanks to BC for the info - I have spoken to two dealers who have both Winnie and Forest River. Neither one could give me a good reason to pay more for the Winnie product - but then they were hard pressed to tell me the pluses of the Solera. I am in a completely different business - but trust me when I say that I can tell anyone why our product is best......neither more motorhome dealers who are true consultants rather than simply order takers.

There are several of my dealers that take product knowledge very seriously. Some dealers are conditioned to sell a certain way..."like the floor plan? Like the color, great. It's this much...too much, OK how about this much?"

We looked at a Navian prior to purchasing our Solera MS. While we thought the cab shades on the windshield were nice, the ones on the windows in the cab doors weren't desirable to us. They took up room to where you couldn't even rest your arm on the bottom of the window frame, whether the window was open or closed. Just didn't seem worth it to us ... but just our two cents here!

Dinette

We are seriously looking at a 2013 Solera 24S but think we want the sofa with removalble table. I have only seen this as an option in the literature and can't find one to look at before we order. Is there a reason no one else seems to want this option??

A few dealers stock them that way (not many). Years back if you had to choose sofa/dinette many would choose sofa & table. Trend the last few years has definitely been dinette. All comes down to personal preference. Do you want to take the table up and down to bring the slide in??

I am purchasing the 2013 Solera 24 s and I inquired about the sofa too. I decided to go with the dinette because I didn't want to lose the closet.

24S? Sofa is the same size as the dinette...why would you lose the closet?

That's what the sales rep told me. I take it he is incorrect? In your opinion, is it a pain to have the sofa and have to move the slide out to use the table? Thanks, Heidi.

Not sure I have an opinion. I'm sure some people with the dinette would like a sofa at times and some people with the sofa would like a regular dinette at times.

The sofa only seats (3) whereas the dinette can seat (4). I don't think its a big deal to take the table up and down to operate the slide. It's all personal preference. I prefer to eat at a table, my wife is fine at the couch.

I don't think there is a major reason for one over the other...again, personal preference.
