Couple of newbie questions
First just on the left side went you open the entry door they have 2 switch. One is for the porch light, what is the other one for? Next. On the dash next to the AC controls. They have a switch that is just over an inch around and has a square something drawn on it. What does this do? Last. I know I have a tank to add additives for the diesel. Looking at it I am guessing you need a special wrench to open it. If so where do you get this and the additive? Oh one more while I am at it. Found 2 polls with rubber bumpers on them. I'm guessing this is for the slide out but not sure where you put them. I'll post pictures tomorrow if needed.

No harm done - If I didnt ask someone else will - hopefully someone with a 2011 Solera will get you the info you need now since they will know what model year they are dealing with.
I am assuming you bought used cause most of that info I would think would be in the owners manual or when you did your Delivery / Walk thru they should have shown you this or was this never shown to you?

It is used , only had 5000 miles on it. We did a walk thou but I'm guessing we missed this stuff. I asked about the DEF. He said just have it filled when I get oil changed. Well I do my own oil changes. I'll give them a call tomorrow, I guess.

Since you bought it used - hopefully you have some sort of warranty cause Forest River only warrants the Original Purchaser - Good Luck and hopefully someone will run across this thread and give you the answers you are lookig for

Can't help with your other questions, but the DEF is no big deal. It comes in a box with a 2 1/2 gal plastic bottle (square) with a screw on spout about 8 or so inches. I would guess the cap will be blue in color and if not right next to the diesel fill spout, it'll be under the hood like GM is. Just unscrew the blue cap and add the DEF.
More then likely your interment panel will tell you when it reaches the half full mark, that's a good time to add the 2.5 container although not necessary at that time. It'll only take 5 gallons and and the instrument panel will keep you posted. When that stuff runs out the engine will lose power and stop.
You can buy that DEF stuff in Auto Stores, truck stops and some wal-marts. It runs anywhere between 11.00 and 16.00 and it's easy enough to get so you can always have a jug tucked away in the vehicle just in case you need it.
Good luck and I hope you find answers to your other questions.

well figured out what the button next to AC controls is for. It is to hold a sheet of paper. Just a paper clip. LOL The DEF tank in on the passager side behind one of the compartment doors. Looks like a big tank. but looks like you need a special wrench to open it. Still not sure about the light switch. LOL

Ok Figured out the other 2 question. The DEF tool is in a well under the passenger floorboard. The other light switch is for a light that is under the steps. LOL

Actually the switch is for the door step and will retract the door every time it is closed as opposed to keep it out (until the engine is started).

I just bought a 2010 Solera and have the two poles mentioned above. Can't figure out what they are for.

If they are white poles with "white cane tips" then those are slide out locks. If you have issues with the slide, you can set those in place to prevent the slide out from inching out. Most people I know don't use them (aren't installed on the drive out), they're mainly for emergency purposes.

Thanks for your insight! Are you a Forest River rep? How can I find a rep in the San Diego area?

They might be for the bars that pull up your stabilizer bars in the front of your camper
