Can't help with your other questions, but the DEF is no big deal. It comes in a box with a 2 1/2 gal plastic bottle (square) with a screw on spout about 8 or so inches. I would guess the cap will be blue in color and if not right next to the diesel fill spout, it'll be under the hood like GM is. Just unscrew the blue cap and add the DEF.
More then likely your interment panel will tell you when it reaches the half full mark, that's a good time to add the 2.5 container although not necessary at that time. It'll only take 5 gallons and and the instrument panel will keep you posted. When that stuff runs out the engine will lose power and stop.
You can buy that DEF stuff in Auto Stores, truck stops and some wal-marts. It runs anywhere between 11.00 and 16.00 and it's easy enough to get so you can always have a jug tucked away in the vehicle just in case you need it.
Good luck and I hope you find answers to your other questions.
