We have a 2013 Solera 24S with a single axle "Open Road" trailer (electric brakes/Tekonsha Prodigy P3 controller) custom made for a Smart car. Lose a couple of MPG but the tow is not noticeable.

We just ordered a 24R and we're thinking about picking up a Honda CR-V for a toad. Any Solera owners tow a CR-V. This forum is awesome!

Chevy Sonic

Hi , I am considering buying a chev sonic to tow behind my 3010 FR. Does anybody know whether you can tow it above 65 if you need to accelerate for short period? Also how much extra equipment would I need to buy? I wonder if I would have to buy a plate, tool bar , brake kit, etc. Would this be it or do I need all that and more?

We bought a Honda Fit 2015 but it cannot be flat towed. Didn't want to flat tow the vehicle so we are considering the Acme Car dolly.

Check it out

2015 model years of the Honda CRV and Fit are NO LONGER flat towable because of the changeover to to CVVT transmission.........check the owners manual under the heading of towing or recreation towing. Automatic transmissions are becoming a dying breed of being allowed to be towed.

Whatever vehicle you're planning on, check the manual. Every year, the list changes.

I reviewed the FMCA flat tow this year and it looks to ma that more flat tow options are out there. I was surprised at the variety available. I know Honda has some that dropped off but after my 1976 Honda Civic I would never buy a Honda again. Check it out lots of options. If you are not a FMCA member and own a MH you are missing a good resource.

FYI - The 2015 Honda Fit CAN be towed...but you'll need the manual transmission model. Check pages 308-310 of the 2015 Fit Owners Manual here:

We purchased the Falcon All Terrrain non-binding tow bar by Roadmaster. It was expensive. We tow our 2013 Sonic (non-turbo) behind our 2014 Forest River Solera with ease but try and keep it at 55 mph except for passing a slow moving vehicle. Tows like a dream. The braking mechanism is mandatory. We have a Vacuum Brake G-Force Controller II.
I hope this helps you in making a decision.

By the way, the Chev. Sonic, we tow, is an automatic transmission but not a turbo RS model. It can be towed according to Manufacturer.
