I have to ask year and models of the vehicles that have had a problem? I have a 2013 Solera on a 2011-12 MB chassis. I have 18000 miles on it and have had the tires rotated once at 15000. Have not see any problems not to say their not about to happen.

About the same - mine came off production line April 2013, 15000 miles no problems so far. Hub caps look identical to the pictures posted. But I am not waiting : 4 tie-wraps in place (since 10 minutes) each tire till a better solution is found
Did not take the hub caps off - I am afraid I would weaken or brake off the rivets / grips?

Too many of their braided valves leaked when they became loose. With the Air-Flexx extension, it is lightweight, rigid, does not need to be secured to the rim and does not pressurize. You can cut the extension in half and it will not let air out of the tire. I cannot confirm that we have switched to that on the Solera, but I know their benefits and it seems a likely replacement.
BClemens, seems the reason has been determined. Could you move this along. Thanks

Well, he can move this along and it will solve the double blowout issue but not the flying away liner issue :0)

Rivets

I just by chance notice the missing rivets. I had blow out last year. If they are not going to make liners good. I'm planning to junk them. QUOTE=Still Kickin;650389]Papap, did you discover your wheel cover failure indepedently, or was it due to his post.

We have a SERIOUS safety issue here. If Dicors' design is flawed, they need to work with FR and;
1. Reply to FR inguiry on believed cause of failure issue with Dicor supplied wheel covers.
2. Dicor needs to work with FR on corrective action in this matter.
3. Since this is a MAJOR SAFETY concern because premature wheel cover failure, can and has in several instances, may have caused tire failure, as disclosed in this forum.
4. Wheel cover detachment at highway speed, due to possible design failure, is a safety issue that might need reporting to the NHTSA.

FR should reply to this issue and advise owners of the course of action.[/QUOTE]

I agree and mentioned in a previous post that issue as well. A wheel cover leaving a vehicle at highway speeds, as a direct result of a design failure is simply unacceptable. We await FR to adress this issue.

I'm not so sure the reason has been determined based on some pictures from one person. We have people on here that have had zero problems and the ones that do we have little information on.

First, I have already responded on the extensions pulling out the tire valve (post #38). If you have valve extensions that attach to the wheel liner you can contact your local dealer and they'll direct you to the best course of action.

Secondly is the issue of wheel liners coming off. We get these wheel liners from Dicor...we also buy our Sunseeker & Forester wheel liners from them as well. I don't think I've heard of s single issue with the Sunseeker and Forester wheel liners. So saying that "its the rivets" does not necessarily make it the rivets. I have contacted Dicor to look into this. I have seen Views and other Sprinters in the field and I found it odd that on used ones, some were missing the passenger side wheel liner??? Does the Sprinter wheel flex more than others? Can this unit be driven closer to curbs because it is narrower? I don't know...but we'll get Dicor to take a look.
