My caps are screwed on; the same screws that hold the extender brackets on (see my photo, above).

Also, I can't pull my wheel covers off by hand; need a large screwdriver to pry them loose first.

Well I know I can pull the right side wheel cover off with one hand. I think I'm going to put a plastic tie wrap to make sure it can not come off.

After reading this whole thread, I did not see a resolution. Does anyone know if there a resolution to this apparently very serious issue? Has Forest River acknowledged that this is a problem? If so, have they provided technical guidance on how to fix it (for existing units), or made changes to prevent it on new units (and if so, how can we confirm whether a new unit has the fix or not?). Thanks!

I have experienced no further problems after taking the steps that I posted earlier on this thread.

What I saw on new units is that they change the extenders from flexible mesh to solid extender . Plus, the extender are no longer screwed to the wheel cap. I think the problem is solved now

It would be good to know that they also now install high pressure valve stems.

The only thing we changed was going to the Air-Flexx extension. Anything else would be a Mercedes change.

Official reponse. IF you have an issue or think you might (stainless steel braided extensions...not the yellow Air-Flexx Extensions). Please, contact your local dealer and have them report it to Forest River. They can then determine the best course of action.

Hi, boy was I surprised to see this thread. Last trip out somewhere in
Missouri I heard a loud blast of air and a large bang. Not sure which came first. Guess what happened? yep my right rear tires lost both valve stems and by wheel cover was lost. Some lady saw it happen and fetched the broken wheel cover. it also damaged the trim and a small dent in my rear corner panel. I hope this is not going to happen on the other side. Also it has cost a few dollars and I can't seem to find a wheel cover that is affordable. I hope Forest river will make good on this? I have a 2011 with about 18,000. miles?

Gonzo, that's exactly what happened to me. Forest River did nothing.
