Duck-call horn, or what?

To all...

Have read an old thread, since expired, re that embarassing horn that FR put in the Solera's, esp. the 2011. I'm too embarassed to use it and would rather lean out the window & scream in case I needed to in an emergency rather than risk being followed by a squad of geese afterwards. Of course, I am going to replace it with something apropos to the size of the unit (come on MB! Really?) and where it will be driven (Interstates...) so that I can be heard. I really don't use my horn a lot but when I've had too the horns on my other vehicles have relieved many a pucker-factor!!

I have read that one could go into limp mode if using a horn set-up that draws more than 15 amps as the computer would not like that? Anyway, don't want that so does anybody have any recommendations for a decent duo-tone
horn set-up that is easy to hook into using the original duck-call wires? I haven't checked out the draw of locally available air horn\compressor combo's but think they might pull too much amperage-wise? Don't want to spend a fortune here but does anyone after-market electric horns that sound decent as on the Jap cars and that would be able to use the 15 amp. fuse w\o popping it? I assume the Solera is neg gnd too?

ANYTHING's gotta sound better than what they stuck in there! ALSO, is it on the passenger side behind the headlight or grill area and what kind of hassle to get to it? Help here would also be appreciated. Thank you...PB(embarrassed...)

Whoa, whoa, whoa. That horn has nothing to do with us. That is a Mercedes thing that we have zero control over.

I always laughed- my dad's Tundra had the same horn as my Corolla. Meep, meep.

Try the Wolo Bad Boy air horn.
Self-contained unit, relatively small and easy to install.
I installed one in my Honda Helix that had the meep meep horn too.
Even tucked in behind the radiator and inside the front cowl when I hit this one it sure gets driver's attention.
The sound file on the web site does not do the horn justice.

http://wolo-mfg.com/horns/motorcycle...9-bad-boy.html

A quick search and it shows up at numerous auto parts stores.

Hope this helps some.

Problem today, if you sound your horn at someone they may start shooting at you. So you might be better off with a horn that they can't hear?
