E-stone Counter Tops

E-stone counter tops are no longer available on the Solera. They have gone back to good old Formica. What a surprise when I saw my new RV.

I was told that there were several reason; some of which were weight, and durability. The chassis is rather weight limited as it is and any weight reduction is a plus. They made other changes such as adding a sliding shower door and a glass cover over the stove burners.

I don't have any photos as yet; pick the RV up Friday.

BC might have further info.

in a nutshell. Too many supplier issues.

I also did some informal testing...and as much as people love the newer cooler stuff. Formica wears like iron. You can set a scalding hot pan on the formica and no issues. E-stone. You have about 15 seconds.

The issue with formica was typically moisture. RV mfg's using T-molding to seal the edge lets water in and it swells (substrate anyway). We went to a formica finished edge and that solves any "cons" caused by moisture.

We used Corian for a while as well...but again. Some supplier issues and weight concerns. So back to ole reliable until we can find something that works without worry.
