Electrical plug on Solera

Getting ready to start towing with our 2012 Solera. We are going to use magnetic lights. We tried to use the plug for the first time and the left signal and brake lights don't work. Any suggestions on fixing the problem? We plugged the lights in on our truck and they worked fine. So we know it is not the lights. Thanks for The help.

Are you trying to use the 4 pin or the 7 pin connector. Since the left turn signal and the brake lights are being fed by two separate wires in the plug both 4 pin and 7 pin I would say either you have a bad connection at the plug or the RV plug is not being fed properly. Try cleaning up both sides of the connection first if that does not work go to the following link Trailer Wiring Diagrams | etrailer.com to determine the pins to test. I would then take a multimeter set to DC and see if you have voltage at the proper pins.

The turn signal and the stop signal go down the same wire.
I would check for a fuse in the Solera for the trailer connector.

On our 2012 Solers "S" I believe there is an aftermarket circuit board "hidden" behind a panel in the utilities bin. I understand the vehicle rear turn, tale, stop lights; the clearance lights; and, I believe, the trailer plug connections come from that aftermarket (non-Mercedes) board. If you search the Solera forum for something like "no tail lights" I think you will find information.

Had a somewhat similar problem on left tail lights a couple weeks ago on my 2015 Solera 24R. Turned out the powered converter for taillight and running lights had gone bad. Took a 7 amp replacement to fix. The 2.8 amp converter available in many auto shops was not big enough. The good folks at Johnson Family RV in Woodlawn VA figured out the problem and the fix. oNce they got the right part, it was a 20-minute job.

The tail lights and marker lights are inop now on my 2012 Solera. All other lights operate. Forest River calls that circuit board a converter/combiner. It is accessed by removing the back panel behind the electrical cord.

Ok, problem solved. Thanks so much for all of your help. I found the fuse area behind the electrical cord in the utility area(Solera S). There was a fuse that was partially out. I pushed that in and that solved my problem. The fact that I had lights on the right threw me off. Oh well you live and learn. Thanks to you nice folks.
