Exterior tv mount for solera?

I want to put an exterior tv mount next to the tv gear (plug, 12v plug, antennae wire) on the passenger side of our 2014 Solera S. I have seen people use a suction based product that I do not want to use. I need a mount that can stay affixed to the side and from which I can remove and replace the tv when needed. I also need to know precisely where the mount can be placed with screws. A stud finder will not work due to sheet metal. Any help would be appreciated. Pictures would be great.

How about setting the TV on a small folding table near the hookups for it?

What about mounting your TV in a better position inside so you can watch TV inside and outside?
See my pictures in that thread:
http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...tml#post611330

In addition its mounted with a 10$ quick disconnect - that"s why the the stand is still attached. I can detach myTV in 10 sec and put it anywhere!

Nice job Loefflerh. That solution is not for me. I did that on a travel trailer and had to sit too far away when outside.
Jngspencer- that may be what I have to do. I was kind of hoping to get a matching mount for the bed area and move tv from bedroom to outside when needed.

use a feeler

Take off an outside cover plate or appliance cover and probe for a stud with a stiff wire. Also if you contact the tech guys at your mfg they can fax the layout for studs on your unit.

I use the MOR/ryde mounts on my trailer. I can move the TV inside and hang it on the side of the trailer. very easy. Be careful that you have enough support behind the wall to handle the weight.

Stormrider, thanks. Any Solara owners able to provide info on support behind the wall? I looked at Stormrider's mounts online. They looked pretty good. Someone mentioned using a table but mostly I want the tv outside for football tailgating. Most people stand so table is to low.

Camping World sells a very thin two piece TV mount. I have one half permanently mounted on the side of my Solara. It is held on with four small sheet metal screws and silicone rubber adhesive. I have never had a problem with looseness and I didn't worry about finding a wall stud, after all its not out there while going down the road. I matched the striping of the decals with spray paint of the same color. Don't even see it if you're not looking for it

Take a look at this. This is what I have in my rear bedroom. The swing arm part easily detaches from the wall bracket for storage while traveling. The bracket could be mounted to an outside wall without any difficulty. Even buying a second bracket is an option so the TV could be used inside or out.

These are all very helpful. ccsvolsfan, your suggestion gave me a new idea that morphed into what I will try. I looked today under the sink and pulled the drawer at its side out. The cabinet is affixed to what looks like a 1"X2" "stud." When I get the unit that Mikejax recommended I will install the holder that permanently is attached. After measuring distances to make sure the new hole will be in an appropriate spot, I will drill a very small hole through the 1"X2" under the sink and punch through the skin. I will then attach one screw for unit holder and then drill the second tiny hole through the 1"X2" and screw the second screw for the unit holder through this hole. I will then have two screws anchored in wood and sheet metal. I will report on success or failure later. I will not try this for a couple of months as I am leaving soon on a six week stay in Santa Cruz, CA.
Thanks again for ideas.

Pod2Vibe- it would be nice to see how you did that in daylight. Your photo is too dark to see.

That picture is quite dark on the android app, I noticed. Less dark on the web view. I will search my photos for a daytime shot.

Here is what I used for a mount:
http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00HJ6OCKW

Mounted base plate with self tapping tek screws (hex head) and it is very secure. 32" LED TV is also very light.

Very quick to setup and remove.

So do you remove the tv mount for travel and just leave the bracket installed?

That is correct, the mount & TV slides right out of the base plate for travel.

Base plate is very slim and clean looking, see pic. It has an Allen security screw, so the TV does not walk away.

Kit comes with two base plates. I mounted the other base plate in my back yard.

Looks good. Think I'll get one to put the bedroom tv on. Thanks for the info!

It is a nice treat to have one outside.

At first I did try the bedroom TV outside, but it was a little on the small side.

So I bought another 32" and I store it in the cab over area while traveling.

Cheers,

Did you hit a stud? If not, how thick is the material you screwed into?
Thanks.

I did hit a "Balsa Wood" stud. The mount is very secure, though.
