External Propane Gauge - not registering - again
Well the gauge is no longer functioning properly.
Filled tank today but gauge needle went the wrong way - shows empty.
I have read elsewhere that the dial gauge is removable by unsnapping it from its mount with a small screwdriver.
It looks like this might work, but I would like some input from someone that has actually removed and replaced the gauge.

The only input I can give is, I have a 20lbs bottle for the portable gas campfire that has a gauge. The gas place that filled my bottle said those gauges were inaccurate at best. So far, it's worked ok for me.
That's all I got.

Thanks Timex, but this is a built in tank in a Class C RV
Kickin - I tried the magnet but no movement.
Still want to know if I can safely pry the dial off of the mount.
Anyone?
Here is a close up of the gauge.

Can you locate the brand off of the sensor and research the mechanism to see what drives the sensor. Post the branding info here so we can search a possible fix. Just sayin'

I tapped on mine with a pair of channel locks and it unfrozen. There is a mechanical float that likes to stick. Worth a try anyways

Thanks that must be it. It looks like its a snap on mount.
I'll try to remove it.
Just want a little encouragement!

It seems as long as you keep the clear plastic tabs intacked, you can pop it off. Im guessing you can buy a replacement for the 14 bucks and be back in business.
Thats assuming its not the sending unit in the tank that is the issue. Let us know how you make out, and good luck.

OK. I successfully pried the dial off using two small screw drivers.
I used a magnet at the center rear of the gauge and i was able to turn the indicator.
I left it at 3/4 since i just refilled.
Now i'll have to see if it tracks consumption.
Might be a while though. 80 degrees in San Diego today.
Sorry, couldn't resist.

For those in snow areas - do not read.
I love our SoCal weather except for those occasional high winds. It's suppose to be 85 tomorrow in my area and 87 on Thanksgiving.

It's been almost a month since I "adjusted" the pointer on the gauge. I left the refrigerator running on propane to draw down the supply. The needle didn't move at all for the longest time.
Today when I checked it the reading had moved down at least 1/8 of a tank.
It must have jumped because it didn't go down gradually; I checked it periodically.
I'll continue to monitor it for a little while. Maybe the float was stuck and now that it dropped a little it came free.
