Generator mounting bracket fail
Wow,
Went out to the Solera this morning to run the generator and what do I see? the aft end of the generator hanging down below the body of the coach and the tial pipe hanger torn out.
ON inspection I can see that the aft bracket was just tack welded in and those little welds finally failed. fortunately it was just sitting in my driveway. If that had happened on the road it could have been bad.
Now I have to figure out how to lash it up underneath so I can get it to a welder. The forward bracket is not visible, so i'll have to go thru the storage compartment to inspect that.
If you have a Solera (mines a 2011) you might want to inspect these welds.
Let me know if you have spot welds or if they have done a more substantial welding job in this area.

Can you drill holes and use bolts to re-attach the support rail???

Cousin01,
Informative post, consider using a floor jack and reposition generator and calling a mobile welder. Those guys are talented. Good luck.

Generator mounting bracket fail
Ok. Cargo liner is not coming out in one piece. Even if I could disassemble the corner wall. Which is not obvious. I can now see that the cargo floor is one huge molded piece and it was installed before the water tank. So forget about removing it entirely.

I just read this post and am sorry to hear about the weld failure. I'll check mine first thing and see whats up with mine. Thanks for the heads up. I agree with the poster to jack it back into place with an auto floor jack, and get it welded, as long as it won't burn anything. Otherwise, you will need to drill and bolt back into place if the connection lends itself to such a fix. A few things your going to need to check; first, the power lead to the generator, second the LP supply, and third, because the weld let go causing it to swing down, check the forward welds for fatigue and or bent metal.

All good input. Thanks. Fortunately the cargo area has a low spot in it right behind the generator. I have it jacked up and got thru the liner with a hole saw. The hanger bracket was welded to a one inch steel channel cross member. I am thru that with a pilot hole but getting thru the hanger is harder steel.
Too hot to work in it anymore this afternoon.
Once I get it bolted up I can take it to my RV guy for a thorough inspection.
Later...

Checked mine and found it is welded at three points to the steel member. Both ends and the middle. Can you temporarily secure it, buy wire and have it welded at a shop. Looks cramped in there by the weld points so am at a loss on suggesting anything since your way ahead of what I'm seeing from a cursory examination.

MIne was welded in three places too. But they weren't very substantial welds. I took them for tack welds till something else more permanent was done,'
I installed two 7/16 th bolts to hold the aft bracket in place by coming in thru the depression in the cargo bay.
Forward bracket must be welded in place too, but its hard to see because of the mud flap and the foam. May need to get it on a hoist.
Here are pics of the finished job.
