Horsepower

My research continues and so do my questions.

Do any of you Solera owners prior to 2013 modles with the 154 horsepower motors ever feel underpowered?

It is not a Corvette, but I think if anyone had any real issues with feeling "under power", you would have read it here prior. Do a search, probably most of your concerns are addressed somewhere on here. Bottom line, does it feel like the right rig to you? That is what should make it or break it. We all are different and want/need different things in a RV. (In all aspects of life, really).

What is the torque rated at because that is more important than hp when your trying to move something heavy.

I fell in love with the Solara. Unfortunately it's tow capacity is 3500 and I needed more bought a Lexington, but friends have the Solara and he drives it like it is her Corvette
We have caravans and it rides and handles well with no strain
Just like a car or truck. You will know if it is right

Technically the unit will tow 4220 lbs (GCWR-GVWR = 15,250-11,030). We put a 5000# hitch on there, but put a 3500# sticker over the 5000# sticker since there is no such thing as a 4220# hitch. We felt 5000# might be misleading. (Even though other mfg's do it)

The mercedes sprinters from 2011 and up are rated at 188 hp as they must have done some tweaking with the fuel system since they added the DEF fluid. So these newer ones have more power than the earlier ones. they
were rated at 154 hp. Its really the torque that helps that rig drive so good!
I think it really drives like a car. Iam sure you other Solara owners out there think so too!

HP numbers should be more or less ignored for an RV IMHO. Especially with a diesel. It's torque that's important and the sprinter has plenty. I'm astonished at how well it pulls up hills. Ease of driving was one of the main reasons we chose the Solara.
