How do you drain the frewsh water tank in Solera 24R

I just purchased a 2013 Solera 24R and am sanitizing the fresh water system.

The low point drains near the step, apparently, only drain the lines. I get about a gallon of water.

How do you drain the 35 gallons out of the tank?

I could turn on the pump and pump it out but that seems silly.

I looked underneath near the rear differential, as that is the approximate location of the water tank, I think. I did not see any valves or caps.

The low point drains should drain all water from the system. At least that is how my previous TT worked.

On my 2012 24S, the drain valve is accessed through a "door" on the back wall of the "basement". Drains through the wheel of the spare tire.

Water tank drain valve

PopBeavers, Is your water tank located under the bed?
If so lift the bed platform up and you should be able to locate the water lines. Look for one coming out of the side of the tank way down by the floor with a valve on it. Open up that valve and it will drain your tank.
Are you doing this to winterize the unit?
If so there are numerous threads on how to do that relatively painlessly.
Just be sure to remove the water filter element from the housing and if you can locate one put a plastic soda or water bottle in the housing to take up space and use that much less antifreeze. Oh, try putting a Cool-Whip or sherbet ice cream tub under the housing so when you loosen it you can catch the worst of the drips, just put the wrench up on the housing before you slide tub under...

I had a heck of a time finding mind, it was above the spare tire under the rig.

Yep...ours is on the left side of the rig.... under the rig.. a pipe of sticking down and has a gray cap. DONT LOSE THIS CAP!!!

I think there should be an off/on ballvalve with a hose bib fitting...that way you could attach a water hose and direct the water for your water holding tank somewhere else.

We were in a spate park campground one and and opened our fresh water tank valve. WOW did we get alot of nasty looks... seeing all that "clean" water pour from the underside of our rig! :O

Drain valve is in rear compartment

Street side
compartment behind rear wheel
door inside hinges down
inside that door is a lever, rotate it 90 degrees
there is a dark blue drain pipe that drops down through the floor

I was not winterizing. I have a bleach solution in hte tank, sanitizing before first use.

We have a 2014 Solera S. We can't figure out how to drain the fresh water tank. We know where the drain point is and found a shower hose. Is this where you drain the fresh water? It only drains if you turn on the water pump. There's a white hose that sits in the same compartment with a black cap on it. However, water doesn't want to drain through it. We can get the water to drain through the shower hose with the pump on. But, yes, that does seem silly! Help. We are 30 year rv'ers, but haven't seen anything quite like this!

Under the rear of the vehicle up around the spare tire there should be a drain hose. My was located on top of the spare tire when I first looked for it.

Also there are two hoses under the unit behind the coach step which drain the water system and hot water heater.

2011 Solera S. The fresh water holding tank on mine...open large bay door street side. There is a panel about a foot square with a handle on it. Remove the panel and reach as far down as you can towards the left and there is a valve. This drains the fresh water tank.
The low point drains are located directly behind the steps. A red pipe and blue pipe with screw off caps..Remove the caps and you can drain the lines (only). This does not drain the fresh water tank..
In the electrical, city water, sewer compartment is a hose that just "lives" there and this is the intake hose for winterizing. Turn the winterize lever, insert the hose into a jug of rv antifreeze and turn the water pump on and it will suck water into the the pipes...NOT THE FRESH WATER TANK.

Wow. Seems like the location depends on the rear.

The fresh tank drain on my 2012 is in the same location as Slow_movin's. If you open this panel you can see the fresh water tank and the drain valve.

Thank you all so much! We found it in the back storage compartment on the passenger side. There is a small black panel that when removed gave us access to the valve that controlled the fresh water allowing the water to drain onto the spare tire.

Thanks.

Goes to show you can learn something new every day. I just checked that compartment and sure enough there's a valve there for the flash water tank. My was in the open position which is why when I unplugged the hose under the unit water came out of it. Thanks all for the info.
