How many of you would give up glass door for Shub Screen to save weight?

My personal opinion is the glass shower door looks better. The shub may be more functional...but how many people would look at it and just think its cheap plastic without considering any benefits?

The main benefit is that it is about 30 lbs lighter than a glass shower door. Since it retracts all the way, the opening is bigger.

I would have to see one in person, consider the longevity, and ease of cleaning. One concern I would have right off the bat, would be, what if it was rolled up and stored wet. Mildew? Mold?

If you look at their website, they say it cleans itself (squeegees the water) every time you open it up (coil it back into the tube).
From their site...

4 Reasons to upgrade your shower curtain to a SHUB II screen:
The SHUB II screen's innovative wiper system removes water and soap.
The flexible polyester screen is rolled across to create a perfect seal, which means no more annoying puddles!
No more slimy or cold shower curtains to get in the way.
The SHUB II screen is a clean and attractive solution for your shower or tub.
3 Reasons why the SHUB II screen is ideal to add to your existing bath:
The SHUB II screen provides maximum access into and out of the bathing area.
It can be fitted easily to most existing showers and baths - also perfect for narrow openings!
Installation is fast and easy!
Screen features:
Safe and durable
Mold and Mildew free, easy to clean
Screens come in 3 different options and 3 different frame finishes
5-year guarantee on both the frame and screen
Custom sizes are available

I can honestly say that my wife would be a hard sell on the plastic. She'd see the glass and think it's "nicer" (30 lbs. be damned).

I don't think she and I could ever end up in a situation where cargo weight would have to be managed!

I know you're looking for opinions from Solera owners, but .... The glass shower door in my Sunseeker was a must have. May not make sense, but it was. The SHUB looks very interesting and might work really well. I would have passed it by looking for my doors...

I could see an advantage since the bathroom would feel larger. And one less thing to secure before getting underway.

I like the glass door myself and if 30 lbs is going to make that much difference maybe I need to look at what I'm carrying in this MH.

BClemens,
We have a 2013 R with a shower curtain. From our perspective the Shub II would be a step up from a curtain.

Any suggestions on how we can retrofit? Our shower floor pan looks to be shaped differently. We would really like to replace the curtain.

Any help would be appreciated.

If it really does not get moldy and yucky I would much prefer it!

Would it be a big job to replace the glass one with this one?

While it's different than a glass door, it's also not a "curtain" in the common sense. I'll ask the wife her thoughts.

I would like to get that too for the 24R....Any suggestion how to do?
Other then for the 24R if weight would be no factor I would prefer glass - but would be ok with plastic!

Unfortunately I don't have a good solution for that curtain. When we made the 24R wider, we decided to put it all in the bathroom to get a glass shower door. That also made it a rectangle.

If you have the glass, the Shub is an easy install. The sides go on with double stick tape. Very light.

If you have the corner shower, I saw a radius type plastic shower door that attached at the top and bottom. Not sure it would work with those angles though...unless you mounted it more on the inside edge.

Any leads on the curved door manufacturer? Or a a type of rv that uses it?
It would be great to pursue this idea further
Thanks

Praxis Group is the one that builds what I am thinking of (out of elkhart).

In looking at the website...the bottom track is straight, the top track is curved. Mybe not doable...but they do all sorts of shower enclosures.

Great link BC!
Just a thought ....who manufactures the corner shower pan I have? Would that company make something that might work....maybe even a different curved floor pan?
Thanks again
