Looked at a M model this week

My wife and I took off Monday morning and headed to TX to look at a 2013 M model with a deisel generator. This was over a 650 mile trip one way. So we got in early enough Monday so we thought we would just run over a take a quick look at it. Well this was the biggest dispointment that we have had. This unit was no more ready to look at then one that was half way built. The bed would not operate and as it tried to come out it was tearing the side of the bed frame up on the night stands. There was something sprayed on the ceiling (looked like a cola had sprayed when somebody opened it up. There were many other things that were in very poor shape.

My wife and I walked into the sales manager and I expressed my concerns about a unit in that shape when he know we were coming to look at it. He stated that I had told him we were coming Tuesday and this is true I did say that but then I asked him if he was going to have everything fixed by Tuesday for us to see it. He then stated well you never told me what time you were going to come in. At this time he just said thank you for coming over and goodbye. And also stated that HE was the sales manager of this big lot and not me.

We left and I'll never set foot into any of this owners dealerships again.

On the way back we checked in with another dealer and they indeed had a 2013 M model and it was just a little out of our way so we headed there.

What a difference in dealerships, when we arrived (this is without us letting them know we were coming) and a salesman took us out to show us the M model. The bed worked so smoothly I couldn't beleive it. This was a 2013 also but with a propane gen. They had just returned with this unit from the show and it was spotless and clean. We took it for a drive and it handled very good.

We started talking price and he was very straight forward that out trade in was not a good thing for us to trade in. We have a pickup with a slide in camper. Their dealership is not authorized to sell motorized cars or trucks, just MH. So they would have to wholesale my truck to a car dealer.

They suggested that we sell it ourselves and then come and see them. We also discussed prices and they came within $2000 of the RVDirect price that I was quoted. This dealership was a profesonal outfit and when I can get my rig sold I'll be dealing with them. They also just received a new 2014 M in, we asked to see it and he stated we don't show any rigs that have just came in till we have a chance to fix anything wrong. We don't want customers to have a bad impression of them.

What a unique idea to have the rig ready for presentation and clients to see.

Then to top it all off coming back we stopped at one of the casinos in OK. No I didn't lose my money in fact I walked out with about $700 to the good but when we got home I was sick as a dog. I think I got some bad food in their buffet the night we spent there. So am now just starting to feel a little human again. A miserable day and night.

Butch: I'll trade an upset stomach for $700 any day of the week.

Your second dealer has his head screwed on right - good advice to sell your truck outright.

I know you'd prefer a diesel gen. I felt the same way but there were none around when we bought ours, so had to settle on the propane unit. We like to dry camp, and with the extra battery and the LED lights, I've managed to make it 4 days/nights without running the generator. So far, we have less than one total hour on that generator. We plan on using the difference in cost and installing solar panels at some point in the future, but so far haven't needed them.
