The official engine model is the OM642 engine:

Are you still looking for the engine number or has your request been sufficiently answered.

The engine numbers in my operators manual are typically like '313 CDI' as an example, so I guess I'm still looking - thanks

Mercedes Benz Engine Number

Thanks all. The engine code is OM642. My manual is pretty generic and lists Model Numbers in the service products and capacities pages. These model numbers are for various sprinter van configurations, and don't reflect my Forest River Solera 24R unit. I can get the fluid capacities based on the OM642 engine code

Every engine has a different # stamped on them. Its basically its own ser # and can be traced back to the vin in case of theft
