Mercedes Diesel engine is impressive

Just finished my journey from Elkhart with my new 2014 Solera 24r. I have a construction business with CAT equipment and Ford F450 diesel truck for hauling. I could not believe how well the Mercedes diesel performed. Coming through the mountains of Kentucky and Tennessee with my cruise set on 70, I passed numerous vehicles struggling up the mountains and my Solera never struggled! The performance of this engine is phenomenal.

Glad you had a good trip. Yes, it drives well. We use ours as one of our cars, handles great!

Mercedes diesel

Hi folks! I have been a Mercedes and Toyota mechanic for 25 years and I always thought mercedes built a very good diesel engine. I have seen some older ones go 500,000 miles before needing a major overhaul. When I drove the Sprinter V6 diesel motorhome, I was amazed at the power and torque that makes it go down the road so well! The engine feels like its hardly working! There are many ambulances in my area that uses the sprinter vans and some of them have 200,000 miles on them, with original engines and trans. This is one of the main reasons I bought the Solera. I have owned three other motorhomes before the Solera, A Monaco diesel pusher and 2 class A gas ones with chev V8s. I think the Solera performs better than either of my other units. If anybody is debating about the mercedes diesel, let me tell you that I think its the best diesel engine out there! They only have been building them for 85 years!
