Great thread!
My Hellwig will arrive this coming Tuesday , the same day I take delivery on my new 24S. I saw the posts regarding tools and the socket Allen needed. My question is metric or SAE? Thanks to all who post here

WilliamStinson: Congratulations on your new Solera purchase! You're gonna love it. We call ours "Harvey". TIP: Before you leave your dealership, make sure you are thoroughly trained on all aspects of operation. Two things we were never told about & had to learn the hard way: the auto/manual transmission and what is DEF. Good luck!

Could some one please elaborate about the windshield covers for privacy and insulation? What criteria did you use (inside vs. outside; suction cup vs. Velcro; etc.)
Any recommended vendors?

Thanks!

These are the reflective windshield covers PNWTraveler.

If you are handy with a sewing machine and a cutting board you can custom make window covers yourself like this one:

What did you do to your camper today? - Page 136 - Forest River Forums

a great source is Amazon - we picked up a 60x32 sheet for under $20! Gives us a lot of left overs for other projects (and it is cheaper than the auto shades to boot! )

Amazon.com: Camco 45164 62" x 30" SunShield Reflective Window Cover: Automotive

PNW Traveler: assuming you have a Solera (MB Sprinter) you can find custom made MB Sprinter reflective sun shields by Googling.

We got the cab side windows that fit perfectly and are held by suction cups. The windshield also fits perfectly and is held by putting both sun visors down. Of course both fit on the inside. We put them on as soon as we hook-up in a park. They go on in seconds. They really do keep the inside 40% cooler as advertised. With them you no longer need curtains at night (or during the day) for privacy. In storage, they keep the inside cooler in summer and warmer in winter. And from the outside, your Solera looks VERY professional.

Bought these from the SprinterStore. It may be what you're looking for.

Window Insulation

Velcro is used.

Solera Rookie, do you have a link to where you bought your shields? I am not interested in the Velcro mount.

In the web site, search for Mercedes Benz Sprinter sun shields, and select what you want.
