Motorhome batteries

I have a 2012 Solera with two batteries installed under the steps. I do understand from our walk-through that they are not maintenance-free and the cells need to be checked and filled if necessary. However, I have just winterized the unit and plan to cover it for the winter months. I always removed the battery from my pop-up camper and brought it inside. What is recommended for motorhome batteries??
Thanks for the help - I appreciate all the comments on this forum!

Unless you have it plugged in so the charger would keep them charged I would remove them. Even if it's plugged in you'll still need to keep an eye on them so they have proper fluid levels.

voltage loss per month - 1% to 15% per month

if you wish to leave them in the unit
take all leads off + and -
the - may be over kill ?
fill with distilled water to proper level
apply a low amp charge
until battery reads 12.6 or higher
if you can do this every let's say month
while in storage -- should be good
if not
possibly bring them home to your garage
for storage and occasional topping off

All Lead-Acid batteries supply about 2.14 volts per cell (12.6 to 12.8 for a 12 volt battery) when fully charged. Batteries that are stored for long periods will eventually lose all their charge. This "leakage" or self discharge varies considerably with battery type, age, & temperature. It can range from about 1% to 15% per month.
