Need help with trailer brake controller wiring.

I have a 2012 Solera with factory trailer hitch and the 7 pin round trailer wiring connector. I don't have the green connector under the drivers seat for a brake controller but the factory did run a blue wire from under the seat to the trailer wiring connector on the hitch and connected it correctly for brake controller output. My question is can I tap the cold side of the brake pedal switch for signal for my brake controller I'm going to install? I thought I had read somewhere people saying it could mess up my ABS unit if I tapped the pedal switch.

I tapped the cold side of the brake wire on my 2013 Solera and it’s always worked correctly. No problem with the abs system.
